This is one player I think would slot in perfectly with the squad and be another ideal development project for Poch. The guy is not yet 22 but already he has shown a maturity in his play and awareness. Personally if the option really is there to sign him then I would not hesitate. He is good now but with the manager's guidance and support of the first team he could be very, very special.

Sorry to bump this post with no new news - I am surprised that Meyer and Goretzka haven't left Schalke given that they both have a year left on their contract. Would have imagined they both have brought in around 30 million for Schalke. Perhaps a deadline double deal to be done there?

In Germany clubs aren't in the same rush to sell and often let players run down their contracts.

They also have no problem with players pre-arranging moves elsewhere and still expect them to give their all for the team which they often do.

Very different from the type of drama it would create in England.

But those most agitating for moves are actually foreign players.
