And bombed at Manchester United... not consistent enough for the money he would cost. Quality on his day, but simply not frequent enough.
Maradona and Pele would have bombed under LVG at United. We dodged a bullet over his appointment.

he has gone from 14/1 to 5/2 fav to sign for us in the last hour
Yep, just came to post this. Very interesting considering our insiders are so confident of a pacey wide forward. Certainly the type of name that would cause people to remain quiet.

Not just the odds on him joining us.

It's the odds on him staying at PSG which are only 4/6.

Really weird, who is betting on us signing Di Maria?

odds thing is surely linked to rumours that they'll buy Mbappe outright, which will surely precipitate at least one, maybe two, big money sales

This deal makes no sense to me the more I think about it. I would still love to get him though.

-wages too high
-fee would put us massively negative on our transfer spending and Hercules said we can't do that until next year.
-Barcelona competition

Only way it works is if it is a loan with option to buy and not sure why DiMaria would want to come here over Barcelona and they have more money to spend. His experience in the Premier League was not the highlight of his career.

BBC is saying that Mbappe may have to be a permanent deal to suit Monaco. PSG would need to sell a lot of players to pass FFP if that's true.

He's on £140,000/week and at 29 with only two years to run on his contract, I can't see him costing anything over £40m. Doesn't seem far beyond the realms of possibility surely?

Thought he was on more then that. I would certainly not be adverse to getting him.

Yep, and that means it's in this year's finances, alongside the Neymar transfer.
No way they meet FFP with those two deals in the same window unless there are some big outgoings.
