He should come to us as we have MYFD (Magical Yid Fairly Dust) that heals injuries twice as quick.

Kane and Winks will back me up here :ROFLMAO:

Personally still feel like Everton will blink on this - the question is, when they ring Daniel at 6PM to say " we will accept your 20M offer", does he respond with "sorry, it's 12M now", or with "sorry, its 3M now, also go fuck yourself"? And will the rush of blood to his sudden raging negotiation boner cause him to black out before he can hear their response?

If his injury is as bad as has been reported (which I know has not been confirmed), he won't be fit to play until close to January anyway so I don't think staying at Everton for the time being would necessarily lead him to sign a new contract.
Agreed. He could get fit for Jan, move somewhere else, and still make the World Cup squad.

TOTTENHAM UPDATE

Our reporter Jamie Weir is at Tottenham. He reports that the chairman Daniel Levy has arrived. He also had this nugget for us.

“Ross Barkley is desperately keen to work with Pochettino.”

Because they'd rather play people that want to be there.
So why not sell him and save the club millions of pounds which was my original point.
Would signing a new contract mean he wanted to be there.
He clearly doesn't feel that being there is helping him get to the World Cup anyway and the manager doesn't seem to be fussed with him so what's to be gained.
It's a war of attrition, Everton are pressuring him so unless he buckles I can't see the logic.
Personally I've never committed myself to an employer who tried bully me and I most certainly would never have put them in a position of power over me, especially when they are not giving me what I want.
I only give that power to the wife by the way.

So Poch wants Barkley and Barkley wants Poch.

Hopefully we get this over the line (and add Gomes on loan) while Ross recovers.

I'd be gutted if we didn't get him today. His contract situation means we can get him for half the normal price, feel like it's now or never.

If he is out for a long time (months) I doubt he would sign a new contract to ensure he gets played leading up to the WC. As by the time he's he fit again, the January window will be rolling around. Not knocking Trix, just my onion.

Having said all that, hopefully we can negotiate them down to a lower price today, as he will go for a lot less in Jan!

This was my thinking too. Why sign a new contract if you are essentially out injured until January anyway?

If Barklay is out til November, he won't be fit until the Jan window opens anyway. I can see why we're not busting a gut to get this done now, assuming that we're Barklay's preferred destination.

This whole deal is on a knife edge.. Levy wants a fair price considering his contract position. Everton want a fair price based on transfer fees paid for so called lesser players irrespective of his contract situation. Chelsea need more home grown to add to squad quota. Barkley out injured and there are numerous forecasts on how long. Barkley allegedly is stating a preference to join Spurs.. With all this to consider i think we can see why it is not so cut and dry

Tottenham still keen on £30m deal for Barkley

Ian Ladyman:
Tottenham have not yet extinguished their interest in Ross Barkley and are willing to do a deal with Everton for about £30m.

Interestingly, it has not been Mauricio Pochettino who has been driving the club’s interest but his number two Jesus Perez.
