He struggled at Barcelona, but I think working with a manager who actually trusts him will help him to reach a new level. He was great at Valencia, and he's still young, this could be a great signing

A deeper lying playmaker is something we really don't have at the club at the moment so if that's Gomes' role then I genuinely can't see why people are unhappy.

Fine people want an attacking player, but don't let that cloud your views over our other signings which have definitely strengthened the squad.

Not fit to lace Dembele's boots? I didn't see Barca chasing Moussa any time recently.

Also, his range of passing makes Dembele look like a blind man. He's far more creative and dangerous going forwards. They really aren't the same kind of player, even though they do occupy roughly the same positions.

Agree that hes more expansive than Mousa in his passing but I think they are the same kind of player. For Barcelona, Gomes would split the two CB's and dribble forward, linking play and controlling the tempo from the midfield. Different player for Valencia, was more attacking, played higher up the pitch. I see him have similar skills to Dembele on the ball though..

Gomes is a Cm, not an am in case anyone thinks are signing a number 10

likes to dribble and drive forward with the ball, so could be a dembele competition player but not fit to lace his boots

He seems shockingly similar to Barkley to me. A true CM that could probably be pushed back or forward depending on formation/opponent/need

Gomes was voted worst signing of last season for Barca. He was booed in Feb at home game. But he is seen as someone who is highly talented. Neville was his manager year before , has given vote of confidence on him.

It was said Barca didnt give him the best environment to integrate, often thrown in tough games.

We need to keep the expectation lower on him & hope Poch can ease him into the squad & PL.

Certainly a great talent, but lot of coaching required to get him into PL playing mode

i cant see why it is such an insane window when its

aurier for walker
sanchez great potential but in a position we are very strong in
back up striker and a player who was voted the worst signing in Spain by Marca last season

dont see at the moment why that is so amazing, it is ok at best i think
especially with all the positive itk about wingers, pace, we wont be disappointed etc
at the moment (things could all change) its very average

no creative player, no Barkley, no gamechanger winger

Didn't Modric win the worst player award in his first year at Real...

Gomes is going to be a loan deal, if he impresses he plays the 60% and we sign him. If not, we don't. Win/win no?

The aim of the window is to have a better 'squad' than when the window opened, potentially we will be doing that people should be happy.
Gomes and Llorente would be decent and make us deeper. Hopefully GKN comes good in the winger department and hopefully Lamela gets back sooner rather than later

I don't rate Gomes that highly, but wasn't Modric voted worst signing after his first season too.

Modric was voted the worst signing of the season by Real fans when he signed. Football fans in general knows nothing about football.
