I don't get it. Surely we would rather have him doing his recovery with us, taking time to gel with the squad? Seems weird to leave him there for 6 months for no real benefit.

We're stupid waiting for January imo. We need him now (if he actually is injured for 3 months then fair enough).

Add in the fact he'll be using their medical team to get fit as well, that decision just cost them a bomb.

This could be Levy's biggest negotiation masterstroke ever: Sell him to us know or we'll get him for less in January after you've paid his medical bills and half a season's wages for him to not even play.

I take it levy didn't wanna pay 35m

And didn't want to pay someone's wages when they are injured for a few months.

Makes sense if his injury is that bad and if we actually close the deal in Jan.

If we don't though it's a big fuck up.

The Arse shambles and us nicking one (two in Jan) off Chels is adding to an already solid window :)

ITK has said we can expect a fast forward as well as a no. 10 type if RB is not signed.

Past history at this time of the year usually shows a net spend zero.

Has anyone worked out (and could share here) how matters stand with cash received from transfers and cash paid out for same? (I presume that we should include Carroll, Fazio, etc. In those calculations).

This might give us a pretty accurate idea of the sort of players we might possibly expect in the last hours of the window.

The fast forward couldn't be ... don't shoot me ... Willian? Some talk on the radio of him being available and of course he was originally coming to us, so maybe he has n
Everton chairman on SSN: Barkley leaving it until January

He doesn't sound like Barklsy has a future there. More or less saying he needs to go to get game time. Is that a message to the player or to us to cone and get him. Says it was £35million and we ain't paying that

Pretty disappointing after all the positivity about adding something extra in terms of pace and creativity.
Anyhow, replaced Walker & Wimmer with Aurier & Sanchez, upgrade.
Hopefully Nkoudou will have a second season renaissance like Son did, plus once Lamela is fit he'll be like a new signing.
Realistically, we had three of our front four get 20 goals or above, so not that goals are an issue, but I'd expect Llorente to provide more than Janssen did, and does at least provide a plan B.

Still time (ish), but not hopeful of any further additions. Very disappointing that we always seem to run out of time, and our scouts don't seem to unearth more targets, but it is what it is.

I just don't get the logic by Everton at all surely you would just accept a 25 million or so bid now unless we have never bid?

He's only going to lose value now I actually feel sorry for Barkley in all of this he's probably lost his place in the World Cup squad and been in limbo all summer.

I know the Goat is saying January, but I think an insulting offer with 10 minutes left is just what we need.

I just wonder how Poch is going to feel about all this, supposedly he has been wanting a wide forward and Barkley more then anything. Can't imagine he will be very happy about the way this seemed to have played out.
Badly I would reckon, we have come up short again, this will be his last summer transfer window with us, PSG for him next summer or sooner I fear.

Dont make any sense to me either

Its simple, he can agree to sign for free in Jan for the following summer. Spurs will then use this for Everton to settle for £10-£15m now or nothing in the summer. We did this on a lower level with the tiny german guy from Shalke from memory. Agreed the free transfer then gave a token fee to get him early.

What I don't get is why we're not bidding £25m right now. They're gonna lose 15m if wait till January or possibly all of it in a year.

It's odd - we will have a swing of opinions here because it's not a disaster window. Nor is it a great one. It's just about ok.

1. We didn't lose any key players bar Walker who we replaced.
2. We added a defender with some real potential.
3. We've added a few squad players.
4. We haven't signed anyone to really challenge any of our attacking players so we are still missing depth up top so any injuries and we start to look light.

Not great, not a disaster. A bit meh.

Why wouldnt Everton take £25m from us now? They are going to lose so much value in the deal by Jan. I know that benefits us price wise but surely we need to protect our interest in the player and get him now?

Poor all round really. Another window and our attacking options off the bench have not improved.
