Essentially if he gave the finger to Walker as a joke there should be no punishment but told to be careful as storms do brew out of tea cups.

If it was aimed at the ref he should be punished but not too harshly.

Has anyone actually got a video of the incident?

I seem to be in the minority that saw the incident that Walker played a high through ball which Dele didn't chase or move for.

After that you see Dele sticking finger up in Walker's direction.
The two are mates and yes you can assume that Walker goaded Deli for not chasing the pass.

I really don't believe for a second that it was aimed at the ref.
I don't think anyone would do that?
Also what would be Deli's reasoning for swearing at ref after an incident that didn't involve a foul?

I'm not so sure. To me it makes far more sense that he was doing it at the ref than that it was a "joke" with Walker. Just the body language and everything I don't see how he could've been "joking". As for would he be stupid enough? We all know he's got previous for doing stupid/reckless things in the heat of the moment. Admittedly, he's got a lot better at keeping his head, but it's really not beyond the realms of possibility that he'd do something like this.

If you look at the camera angle that is far away from the pitch you can see that it's obviously directed at Walker and not the ref.

The British press love to build up a celeb then delight in taking them down with as much scandal as possible.

On a slightly separate note I saw this in The Times today...

Tried to be clever on the stroke of half time that wasn't clever of him. So unlucky not to hit the top corner second half. He seemed to get more into the match as it went on. A better performance today

Super-agents vie for Dele Alli
exclusive

Dele Alli is being courted by the two most powerful agents in football as he prepares to appoint new advisers to manage the next phase of his career.

The Tottenham Hotspur and England midfielder split with Rob Segal last month, having been with his Impact Sports Management team since he was 15 years old at Milton Keynes Dons, and is the subject of a scramble among the world’s leading sports management companies as they compete for his signature.

Jorge Mendes and Mino Raiola have joined the race for Alli despite having previously shown little interest in recruiting English players. They are understood to have approached the player through his adoptive family.

Harry Hickford, Alli’s house-mate whom he regards as a brother after moving in with his family at the age of 13, will also have a role managing his career and is likely to be taken on by whichever agency wins the contract.

Raiola, whose clients include the Manchester United quartet of Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Romelu Lukaku, does not have any English players on his books but Mendes’s Gestifute agency represents Andre Gray, the Watford striker, alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and José Mourinho.

Joining up with either of the super agents would increase speculation that Alli’s ultimate goal is a transfer from Tottenham to Real Madrid or Barcelona, where Mendes and Raiola have impeccable connections and are well placed to facilitate a move. The 21-year-old England midfielder has five years left on his contract at Tottenham but is likely to be given an improved one this season.

Daniel Levy, the chairman, will not sell Alli until the club have spent at least one season in their new stadium, which would be the summer of 2019.

The FA responded yesterday to Fifa’s request for observations as part of its disciplinary proceedings against Alli after his middle-finger gesture during England’s 2-1 win over Slovakia last week. The FA requested that the case be dealt with before the World Cup qualifier against Slovenia next month.

The FA has submitted evidence in mitigation including television footage that it claims shows that Alli raised his finger at his team-mate, Kyle Walker, rather than the referee, Clément Turpin, but is pushing for an early hearing to minimise the risk of any suspension causing him to miss matches at next summer’s finals in Russia.

Whilst it's not ideal having him unavailable for the next two CL games, if there is a consolation, it will hopefully spur him on to put in stellar performances in the weekend games immediately after them to give us a taste of what we will have been missing.

Getting a superagent means he is as good as sold imo. For around 150m id suspect and to spain too. Dont mind tooo much as i actually think he is replaceable with a different type of player! Bring back bale and pocket the extra 80m we would have left over?

Jim White on Talksport at 10am running with this story, don't exactly know why but he doesn't like Tottenham very much, he loves Rangers and Chelsea .

Genuinely not bothered to be honest. We all know Alli will in all likelihood move on at some point. As will several of our players. It's the nature of the business. Kane and Winks are probably our only first team players who genuinely have an affection and love for Spurs.

Me too, if he goes, it will be for a world record fee.

Having seen the quality of our youth players coming through, I am hopeful that someone like Marcus Edwards can eventually step up and replace Dele Alli if he is sold.

Hopefully it will also spur him into not doing stupid things which have led to his 3 match ban in the CL and probably another one for England. He has to learn that that kind of thing ultimately makes him a liability.
