Thoughts:
The container for the pitch seems less than 1 foot deep, which surprised me. I thought it would be a couple of feet deep to make it compressible to some degree. Maybe wet sand at greater depths than 8", pretty much acts like rock anyway.

The pitch join does look perfect although the sequence appears to jump into computer animation for one of the joins. In practice I suspect the grounds man will have to do minor manual repairs to sections. That's fine.

What we didn't see was a football being dropped on the normal grass, the container grass and on the join for comparison.
It would have been nice to see some slide tackles over the join to prove studs are not going to catch on the plastic/rubber flanges. They could have blindfolded some players then have them jump about to see if they could tell if they were on the join. I suspect the players weren't allowed anywhere near it. This is just the way it is got to be.

My bigger concern is the grass not really taking to these boxes or the days/weeks in storage and so generally getting tatty.
Before anyone says that can't happen today, remember apart from last season, every corner area at WHL looked grass free for most of the season. The ball would continually roll away. I'm sure that wasn't deliberate - grass is just a living surface and can be unpredictable.

Worth remembering that the pitch will stay in situ for most of the time so there will effectively be no join for most of the time.

We have to do as much as possible in outer constructions before December.Once the winter starts, the possible snow & holiday season would slow things down drastically.

South Stand steel construction is really deceptive looking. Its almost like nothing happening yet from aerial pics, but more focussed pics shows the level of work thats already done. Also can, clearly make out, where the 3 split retractable pitch will slide in..

Arunspurs, any chance you could share pics if possible? as you suggest it has been looking like nothing much has happened on the south stand, i have always assumed much has been going on that the web cams do not make obvious but if you have any evidence of progress I would love to see it!

thanks!

it's worth looking at the weekly time lapse there's a section on that showing ground work for the steel structure, once that is ready the next phase of framework will soon go up.

South stand pic here...You can see 3 divisions with additional temporary support in between.
Also look at the height from surface to first cross support, probably 2 or 3 meters high ,where pitch will slide. Infact, people standing nearby gives a perception of how big the structure is...

Below is from Twitter - A Spurs fan who went to SCX (pitch designer in Sheffield).
Mods can delete this is, if below personal pic is not ok here.

Looking at south stand - No idea how the entire structure is going to stand on these 3 columns.
I am no expert - it just amazes me, how this would support 17000+ supporters + additional dead weights. Pretty sure, architects know what they are doing. Tbh, this is Incredible engineering. If everything is perfect next year, I won't be surprised if we will see our stadium construction showcased in some National Geographic documentary like MegaStructures

Look at that height of South stand & how steep it looks. If its similar to Dortmund's "Yellow wall", its going to be incredible
