My opinion is that King is picked 1st, who you want to partner him with is up in the air. What alot of you forget is that King didn't have the luxury of having a Toby or a Vert to assist or cover for him. He played mostly with a inferior defence and keepers and at times had the carry the whole defence by himself. Its seems a sacrilege to actually trying to unseat him as our best defender ever.

The poll didn't give me an option to reflect my views. if I could vote twice i would vote for the 1st two options easily

The King is the best defender I have ever seen for Spurs, Mike England the next best. But of course he was probably going to be a DM. England and Spurs wanted him in that role but his injuries stopped this happening. His anticipation, tackling ability, speed and football intelligence made him the most accomplished of players.

If King had stayed fit he'd quite possibly still be playing. He's not 37 yet. So he'd be playing alongside Vertonghen and we'd only have signed Toby so we could play the back 3. And maybe Sanchez would have come in this year to cover for Ledley/ replace him next year. Therefore, our defence would have been built around a fit Ledley King.

So yeah, King would get in. Alongside last year's Toby or this year's Jan. Or all 3 of them.

In fact, whenever I saw him play in midfield- wasn't often, admittedly- he was great, so he'd quite possibly get in ahead of Wanyama and would almost certainly be immaculate in Dier's role.

Basically, King was awesome and would have been first pick for all but a tiny handful of teams throughout history. And he'd have been second pick for them.

So which one of Dembele, Wanyama, Alli, Son or Eriksen is left out?

Both Son and Alli out, replaced by King and Lamela.

........................Lloris...........................
...............Toby....King....Jan................
Aurier.........................................Davis
.............. Wanyama.............................
.................................Dembele.............
....................Lamela..Eriksen..............
..........................Kane...........................

Okay, not exactly sure how I would organize them on the field, but that would be the starting 11.

King is in no doubt, just purely on the CB Level he would replace Verts, no hate for Verts just not as good as Toby or King imho

Slot in perfectly into the Dier role forming a back three when in defence and carrying the ball forward into midfield to start attacks (y)

You have to factor in the fact that Toby and Verts benefit from being in a far superior team, tactic and system and add on to that the confidence the team gets from this consistency.

When Ledders was in the team we always were at least 25% better.

Not sure if mentioned by what about prospect of poch and king working together...holy cow...

I think poch would have removed wanyama and played king as a sweeper in a back 3 pushing forward into dm.

I'm sorry but stupid question.

King >> Alderweireld > Vertonghen.

Honestly some people do not understand Ledley King was a freak of a player, those that appreciate know how good King was, he IMO was the best defender I'd every seen. Seriously I can't think of a defender Id pick ahead of Ledley King

Haven't voted because it doesn't have the option I would choose but yes, in place of any of them.
This.

King was superb, IMO the best of his generation, and he is still to be matched...

Even with the dodgy knee, no training and constant pain management, he was the best of his generation.

A fit King walks into any team in the World, bar none.

Nothing more to say really.

Ledley gets in any Spurs team of all time. Personally I'd partner him with Richard Gough ahead of either Verts or Toby, which just shows you how good Gough was.

Would sol get in?

The question is "would King get in?" and not "would the Lord Mayor of London (Conservative, Prospective) get in?". Need to brush up on the Political Science.

And the answer is, yes. But it is a hard question. Ledders was brilliant, but it stood out more because the teams he played in, for the most part, were not that good. Now, on the other hand, we have had the best defence two seasons running. The actual visible improvement on the ground may be less evident than we'd imagine. And adding him to a back three would be at Sanchez's expense...and who knows how good this kid could be. Adding Ledders is as much an emotional as a rational decision, IMHO.

Have to say the resemblance between king and Sanchez is quite striking.Could easily be his son or younger brother.Especially watching the game at Wembley ,slightly further away.Found it quite weird, just the way he moves and his pace and calmness on the ball it's uncanny.
