Can't we make our own? Using Liverpools sounds a bit naff

Mind you with the NFL tie up and the their American owners I can see the logic

My oh my footballs a funny old game these days
I think I see what you did there...

But I do hope that everybody knows that a "kop" is a type of stand, not a specific stand at Anfield.

So we don't have to worry that people will think we copied the name from Liverpool, as arsenal actually had the first Kop.
That's alright then.

It should be called the Park lane. That will help reinforce the idea that we haven't gone anywhere.
There is more of a case to rename the Paxton Rd end - it is not helpful to the away fans to name the stand after a road that no longer exists..
North stand is too boring, Northumberland Pk too much of a mouthful, and confusing as that might also be the name of the stadium on CL nights. The north stand should be renamed the Bill Nic stand in my view.

Although the Paxton Road has disappeared, the name lives on with the Paxton Building alongside Sainsburys.

The West stand which doesn't sing and is officially the most prestigious, should be called the Sir Bill Nic.

Errr no. I think he was saying why would we use Liverpool's 'atmosphere' when we should create our 'own atmosphere'. A joke which I think you may have read wrongly (y).

The stand with the best fans should be called the Bill Nic. I.e., the home end. Why would you put the millionaires in the west or the arsenal/away fans in the north in the Bill Nic? Is there a greater insult imaginable?

Our kop should be called the bill nic. From a fan on the terrace, to ballboy to first X1 to the england team, his entire life was Spurs. The only comparible is Arthur Rowe, likewise a fan to player to manager.

I'm not so sure. I mean, I totally get your point and don't disagree, the trouble is, every one of the stands in our stadium, bar the West has/had a common name (Park Lane, The Shelf & Paxton Road) it'd be nice to continue those names in the new stadium and the associated chants, so the natural choice is the West Stand, which is also the part of the stadium where Bill spent the vast majority of his time. I understand your opinion on the type of people who will be sitting on that side, but being in hospitality doesn't automatically preclude someone from being a fan and, yes it's harder to sing there without the weight of number singing with you, but hopefully that will change as there will be even greater numbers of us plebs throughout the stadium. I dunno, I guess, for me, The West Stand has always been the natural choice for that name (although I am not shocked it never happened as the club have never deviated from officially naming the stands after the compass directions they face).

The West Stand will face the High Road though, it will be the entrance for most visitors to the club, the public face if you like. Also it was the location of the Bill Nic Gates. Should be the west stand that is renamed the Bill Nic Stand for me. I'd rename the kop after Greaves.

moussa on coys did the spvrs tour thing
Was a very cool experience yesterday, the stadium really does look incredible.

Only relevant information I got was the following:

- The project is huge and as expected there are parts that are ahead of schedule and things that are behind schedule but overall they are on track.

- Spurs are still aiming to have the stadium ready for August 2018 so they can have a couple of events before the opening premier league game. But they are aware that they can do something like Liverpool did if necessary and with the international break too it does give us a bit of leeway. Overall they are confident that we will be back home next season.

- The south stand will be completed by December after which they will start work on the roof

- Our guide did talk about the new Wembley Way style concourse as well as the public square and the hotel/apartments. Work on the hotel and apartments will start 12-18 months after the completion of the stadium, these are currently out to tender with CBRE running the tendering process. The Wembley way concourse already has a partner and this will start not long after that, with residents being relocated into new buildings. There is a lot of work planned in the surrounding area regarding housing, shopping, high street redevelopment etc.. and in 5-10 years the area will be unrecognisable to what it is now.

- Corporate packages are more than 70% sold out now and they are currently discussing ticket prices for the General Admission season tickets. These GA tickets were £900-1800 in the old stadium and are likely to be slightly higher in the new stadium as season ticket prices had been frozen for a few years in the old stadium, but I got the impression that they are unlikely to be huge increases.

So nothing really new or groundbreaking but nice to hear it from the proverbial horse's mouth.

It would be gutting if they did some "Events" before Spurs kick off the new season. Its a football stadium first and foremost.

Presumably they would need to do a mix? To try the new pitch technology before it's played on, and also just to get the thing full to check safety etc?

I wonder if the roof walk thing will be open at the same sort of time. My birthday in August and I can't think of anything else id want to do (anything legal anyway).

Completely agree.

Even at Wembley you can hear the 'park lane' v 'shelfside' chants come through strongly. Along with the White Hart Lane name they are a massive part of our club.

I struggle to think of other big clubs whose main songs include the name of their stadium in them 'we are Tottenham, from the Lane'.

The best way to keep the White Hart Lane name and the feel of Spurs home ground is to continue with the names they've been known as for years.

The West stand, as the only one without a specific known name, can be called the Bill Nic.
