Milan in the late 80s / early 90s had some of the best defenders to grace the game. Baresi was probably the most renowned, it was his ability to read situations and see pictures before anyone else that stood him apart. King reminded me of him a lot in this respect, he read the game exceptionally well, but King was faster & stronger than Baresi. Maybe he didn't have the mental strength of Baresi, but it's not a fair comparison as Baresi played with serial winners whilst King played with players bellow his standard. I'm not saying King was mentally weak, he wasn't, just our set up wasn't designed to produce a winning mentality at the time.

A fit King under Poch, playing in a system such as our current one with a winning mentality would be something to behold.

King as he was towards the end I don't think would get into a Poch team, swimming lengths wouldn't cut it with Poch. Having said that I believe he's the best defender I've seen to pull on the shirt for us, despite how good our current lot are.

A fit Ledley would get in any side.

As a reminder Ledley was able to do this against Robben when he was at his best.

That clip sums Ledley up for me. His pace, his power, his timing and his reading of the game were all superlative. At his best he would walk into my all time best Spurs team. A real powerhouse of a player.

King was much better than both. Toby and Jan are fantastic defenders, some of the best in the world right now but Ledley was a once in a generation player. Incredible that the man never trained with team but never put a foot wrong and hardly ever even got booked. Very special player

Such a shame Ledley wasn't born ten years later, as he had to play with some right dross. He must watch the current team with a touch of envy.

In answer to the question. He plays where he wants.
