Premier league is not the problem, it could be altered like WestHam & Liverpool have done, given this is an exceptional scenario

Problem is Champions league. If we finish 4th we start as early as August midweek. If we qualify normally, then we would have to play in September.

I dont think UEFA will agree to have few home games at Wembley & then rest at new stadium. If we play 1 home game at Wembley, then we may have to play all our CL (or EL) 2018/19 fixtures at Wembley
4th place doesn't have to play a qualifier starting from next season. Good thing for us if we do finish 4th. Bad thing in terms of general football as i thought it was fair that whoever finished 4th had to play a two-legged tie to get in

to play the first eight games of next season away from home...

This sort of message wont be coming out after November

Once the Roof is up people wont post this sort of ****

Just compare us to Atletico Madrid's new stadium

The only problem I see is constructing the pitch other than that there is no way it wont be ready for PL season

It may not be finished by the time we start playing at the stadium but will be open

It is not really that demanding - we always play away on the opening game - dont really need to request that.
So that leaves 7 games.
Of those 3 or 4 will be away anyway.
That leaves 3.

If the roof is up this November, which would be months ahead of schedule, then that will be a great relief for everyone.

Does the NFL contract have a definitive start?

If they do have problems with the trays I wonder if they could just concrete and turf over the ground/fix the trays into place as a one-off and fix the problem proper in the next season?

The roof wont be finished this November but it will start to go up in the next month or so, they have already started doing the prep work

The point as soon as a stadium starts to come to shape and that people see oh that looks like a stadium(even though there is a lot of internal work to do), people will be like that looks like its nearly done

We've played 6 games already this season haven't we? The Huddersfield and then Bournemouth weekends would take us up to 8 away from home. 14th October not end of November. We already would have 4 of those scheduled as away anyway (y)

Edit - answered as it came up. David above has already answered this.

I misread it. I thought he said first 8 home games. First 8 games of the season home and away I could believe.

Heh. Exactly.

At which point, everyone will start freaking out about how "work has virtually stopped, what's going on, what's wrong?" Probably nothing will be wrong. It wasn't "nearly done", it hasn't "virtually stopped", it's just that there are always 6-12 months of work left on any development after the superstructure is visibly finished. Inside. Out of sight.

On the more general point of future-proofing, no one seems to have mentioned (in the last page or two) the most obvious way we can increase capacity (if we can fulfil the transport requirements), which is to turn the kop into a safe standing area.

Safe standing could bring us up to 67k i think.

My understanding of 'safe standing' is that the area occupied by a seat is instead occupied by a standing spectator, with each row of spectators separated from those in front and behind by a rail. This being so, the capacity would be unaffected by a switch from seating to safe standing.

Would either of you two gentlemen (or anybody else) please explain why I'm wrong about this?

Thanks.

Edward's weekly time lapse update.
Looks like they have done a lot on the new East Stand last week, so we can probably expect them to bring it up to the new South Stand pretty soon.
I am going to feel like a 4 year old kid on Christmas day when we finally get in there. Really not enjoying the Wembley experience, but needs must!.

No idea. Everything I have read about safe standing presupposes that it increases capacity. I know a fair amount about development and sod-all about safe standing!

I am no expert, but I don't think there is an exact number on how much/if you can increase capacity. I have seen stats that it can be on a one-to-one basis, one seat = 1.5 people standing, and others.

What I suspect it comes down to is regulation. What the relevant authorities deem acceptable. I'd imagine that if safe standing ever does get introduced in the PL, then it will be done on a one to one basis - certainly initially.

I heard a few months ago and posted on here at the time that Levy already requested that.

Not a biggy. Even if we eventually don't need it, it's prudent to organise this now, just in case.

My understanding from one of the contractors on site is that everything generally progressing well - ahead in some areas but little behind in others.
Levy being Levy will have all arts of the possible covered - finding out exactly how much potential over-run time there is being one train of thought, together with renting Wembley for a further season being another.
The ideal is still to get in close season - but you need to plan for the alternatives just in case.

Dortmund has a capacity of 65k seated and 81k with safe standing.

I distinctly remember reading an article somewhere that suggests the rail system provides a 3 for 2 increase in capacity. therefore another 5.5 to 6k increase within that stand.

Let's hope the structure can take a German style jumping up and down in unison style event. Don't want any of those waves that the Millennium Bridge suffered with.

That is mind blowing if true. Totally nuts.

Brings me back to the safe standing thing. That will obviously have to be for the future somehow. How they are going to displace 25% of those who don't even want to stand from there into another area of the stadium sounds a logistical nightmare.

They have displaced our whole capacity once and will be moving them again next summer.

more from edmonton: Station will not be ready for the opening season. This is a major disappointment to senior people at Spurs because it could have been. However, it will be useable on match days.
