Stick a fiver on Huddersfield or Draw, instead of buying a half time pie, the end result will be the same.

Disappointment.

Spurs will be a big task on Saturday against us. But I'm hoping Pochettino puts out his strongest side on Tuesday night v Nicosia, and that they're then made to work harder for a result against the Cypriots than they anticipate. Even if that were the case, he'd still be able to take a decent team to Hudds. But you never know, if we can contain them for an hour, then they may tire and be there for the taking with our super fitness.
Bottom line is though that anything from this game would be a real bonus.

He'll be gutted about tonights line-up and in for a bit of a shock when he sees our fitness levels methinks. No way are they fitter than a Poch side.

But they seem like a good bunch. (y)

Sorry just one more quick thing on Martin Tyler

I came across this just now by chance. This was a truly phenomenal goal scored by Berbatov, starting with a Bergkamp-esque flick (like he did against Newcastle, which was one of the goals of the century apparently). Listen to Tyler's commentary. Hardly raises his voice.

I can't help but think if that had been Rashford, Ibra, Aguerooooooo etc then it would've sounded different.

The Stalteri commentary was truly awful but wasn't a one off. I don't think he dislikes us in any way, but it's pretty obvious he has his favourite teams and he can't help keep his emotions in when they score.

I wish I cared about APOEL enough to know who their rivals were...
Come on mate everyone knows its AC Omonia! Get with your cypriot footballl mannn!

Seriously though, anyone who thinks this will be an easy game needs to get it out of their heads. APOEL know what they are doing.

To be fair, in that game if Charlton didn't win they were relegated, so I think he was just trying to be sympathetic to that situation by not overly celebrating

Yea but look, the original commentary was from Rob Hawthorne not Martin Tyler...skip to 1:40 in the below vid, I remember it as well as it was for MNF. Tyler might have been doing a re-cap on the match when they add their commentary over a highlights package which has been done many times before and the commentators do it for MOTD so they genuinely wouldn't be as excited as they were if they saw it live.

There's been plenty example of when commentators get excited for our goals including Martin Tyler, have we suddenly forgotten about this:

And this: 7:07

All fair points. Only thing I'd say is that Lamela goal was our 3rd in 5 minutes against Manchester Utd. If he hadn't got excitable at that, he'd have been sacked!

I don't get the highlights package thing. Had Tyler seen the match already then? Is it live or did he already know what happened? I get the MOTD thing but this was already on Sky and was covered by someone else, why would they get Tyler to do a highlights package instead of using the original footage/commentary?

Actually I just read up on wiki that Tyler is employed by the Premier League Productions:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Tyler

Premier League Productions
When he is not working for Sky, Tyler can be heard commentating for Premier League Productions, the Premier League's production arm which is responsible for producing, packaging and broadcasting the matches for the Premier League's international broadcast partners. Generally Tyler covers the Monday night matches for the international audience.

Not that that alters the point either way although it does explain his that he may have been commentating for a neutral audience.

I always find these arguments about commentator bias especially Martin Tyler hilarious by the way - I've heard other fans say the same thing:

Liverpool:

Man City

It's just ridiculous paranoia

That last one just makes me really miss the atmosphere we used to have even ten years ago :( Imagine how silent our fans would be these days if we were two goals down at home to the scum... back then the drum was banning and the chants were in full force.

Just found this on Redcafe re Kane:

There's really nothing special about him as a footballer IMO

So when would you guess this comment is from? Maybe in 2011 when he made some appearances in the Europa League, or perhaps it's a misguided comment from his breakthrough season.

No.

It's from today :ROFLMAO:

Tyler to me always just seems totally bi-polar, one game he's screaming for your team for no good reason, the next he couldn't care less that your goalkeeper scored a hat-trick.

I swear it's down to how many of his special tablets he's remembered to take that day.

He does seem to have a trend of favouring the underdog in any particular match, though.

Every west ham fan i know is a season ticket holder. I have a begrudging respect for them, as they're very committed, and they're a good laugh away from specifically Spurs/West Ham subjects but it all goes to pot when it turns to that

I've had to burn a couple of them big time due to their mouthing off and they don't take it well at all. I find they actually get quite small time about it if you really go for it - almost treat you like a bully, as if OBVIOUSLY Spurs are bigger and more successful, no need to point it out, it's all just bantz etc

Never in a group tho, obvs

To be fair, they're only all season ticket holders because since they moved a ST only costs 100 quid or something stupid. I live in the US at the moment and know a West Ham fan who has 4 STs. Clearly he doesn't go over much for games, but because it was so stupidly cheap, it was worth it even for the 2-3 games a season he makes it to and to know he's got a guaranteed seat for any big games.

Sky's main pundits are (and the Prem team they're best known for):-

I'm sure I've left some out but anyway....

Liverpool, Arsenal and Utd lead the way in pundits by miles. City and Chelsea have 1 between them because they're relatively new with their (bought) success but Lampard's in there now and no doubt Terry when he retires. There must be a City player but I can't think of one. I know various people are special guests like Vieira etc but they're not regulars. Jenas is purely there because he speaks well and sensible, nothing to do with how good a player he was like most of the others.

Dixon is obviously associated most with Arsenal but he grew up supporting City, so I suppose they can count him.

No they've been season ticket holders for years. One is 28 and has been an STH since he was 18, which is commitment as I couldn't afford food when I was 18! Another for 20 years - Altho the change in stadium means he can now take both kids

A poster on Redcafe:

This kid, he has so much potential. He has been scoring at least 30 goals per season since 2014-15. His prime years will likely come between 2019 and 2021. I don't understand why some people say he is overrated. At the end of the day, the main objective in football is to score goals to win a match and a tournament, if this kid can score on a consistent basis, it doesn't matter if he doesn't have the skills of Neymar or the pace of Bale. The question for me is: Can he score 50 goals this season ? He is the only striker in the world other than Rashford which I think will reach these figures in the next two seasons at most.

He thinks Rashford will hit 50 goals in a season in the next couple of year? o_O
