That's incredibly vague.

What does "not ready" mean, if it will be "usable on match days"?

And what is the "opening season"? Pre-season? The first home match of the season? Promotional events? What?

Means they'll still be extending the station but trains will stop there while the work is going on.

more from edmonton: Station will not be ready for the opening season. This is a major disappointment to senior people at Spurs because it could have been. However, it will be useable on match days.
Not surprising, its taken too long for the project get going, same goes for the walkway

UEFA rules on Venues :

View attachment 32883

They say "in principle" club has to play in same venue. So, I guess there is room for manoeuvre. May be playing CL in multiple venues may not be a problem if we "take care" of UEFA officials
What happened with Athletico Madrid. Did they just luck out with a first away game or did request it?

From those latest photos it looks like the top tiers are nice and steep. Should hopefully help keep everyone as close to the pitch as possible

No, although it's close to being true. There is a depot for Vic line trains at Northumberland Park. In order to have a Vic line station, they'd have to add a spur which TFL are 100% against doing. The Victoria Line is the most efficient line in the network because there are no spurs or junctions, which is where many of the problems for other lines arise. To build a line the cost would mean it would need to have sufficient usage and by having it running it would reduce the efficiency of the test of the line and the capacity of the main line North of the branch junction as some trains would be diverted to Northumberland Park.

All round an idea which TFL do not love and which doesn't have a compelling argument other than transporting people for football, which can be achieved by other means.
It's one of the most efficient lines because it's smaller than the rest, has relatively new rolling stock (which caused some problems initially), and has a new signalling system which allows the line to be automatic (which it was on opening anyway) but this is also more efficient than previously.

The rest is pretty much correct. TFL have looked closely at this and it doesn't stack up at all financially or from a service point of view as you say. TFL are skint also and there's no appetite for new inefficient capital projects when existing ones of greater importance and need are either being pushed back or scrapped altogether.

Whilst what you've said is true, re: upgrades the line has benefitted from and the negatives which would have arisen had those things not been done... In a world where all things were equal (new equipment on all lines) it remains true that those lines without branches will be more efficient than those that do. So, ok, there is more behind its 'most efficient' status (paying mind to the Jubilee and Bakerloo) but it is also true that if it was dicked around with the outcome would be a line which is less good for the majority who use it to benefit a small minority in Tottenham.

It is not really that demanding - we always play away on the opening game - dont really need to request that.
So that leaves 7 games.
Of those 3 or 4 will be away anyway.
That leaves 3.

If the roof is up this November, which would be months ahead of schedule, then that will be a great relief for everyone.

The roof won't be up this November. In the last meeting between Club and THST, Levy responded in answer to a question, that a good indicator if the stadium is on time is that of the roof going on in January or February and is to take about 12 weeks to complete.

As an aside the construction of the retractable pitch is due to commence in October and also take 12 weeks to complete (don't know if that includes the actual grass or just the steel tray dollies

Exactly, anyone that thinks the roof is going up early just needs to look at the South Stand.

We all know by now that the roof is a compression ring. This means that in order for the construction of the roof to occur, the outside ring to which the roof will be attached needs to be in place. About 3/4 of that ring is there (although I don't know what additional support may need to be added during the construction process - I think there is some special scaffolding) but the South Stand is nowhere near ready. The steels are going up quickly, but it's pretty clear why the club have said the plan is for the roof to go on at the start of next year, given progress so far.

I know we're all desperate to see this thing happen yesterday, but I think it's important to be realistic. That means that this is a seriously complex build, by anyone's standards. The timings will have been refined down as far as realistically possible and if nothing unforeseen happens then we may finish slightly ahead, if more bad things happen than they've planned for then we may be a bit late. The thing is we're probably talking about margins of weeks either way, with the most likely outcome (on balance of probability) being a couple of weeks late as opposed to a couple of weeks early..

I doubt the NFL will be doing a pre season match in London. Probably just pre season matches and concerts
They’ll want to test the NFL pitch but I agree, I’m 99.9% sure it won’t be an NFL game.

Could form part of a summer camp though, an open training session perhaps?

I could see the NFL having a summer camp session maybe for some kids to try to grow the game in England in order to test out the field and the whole mechanics of the retractable pitch. I dont think any franchise will agree to go to London for a mini camp or pre season session(before pre season week 1). Im not even sure the NFLPA would allow that.

I assume that both the NFL and Spurs will need to test the pitch and confirm sight-lines etc but could it not be any american football team(s) i.e. a European one or collage/university team.

Its just to check all the logistics and facilities work, it does not need to be a show piece event with a big name NFL team IMHO

I have no idea how the roof could go up way ahead of schedule by November - it was not my suggestion and it seems very optimistic - but I doubt any of us can rule it out 100% either.
But posters are entitled to guess the build is ahead just as much as those who want to guess it is behind.

I think the pessimists shouldn't get too downhearted about any major project milestones potentially being met early as there are a million boxes to be ticked before the venue gets its license - it is all still to play for!

Phischy's point about the roof is that the compression ring that it will sit on needs to complete for it to work. As that won't be in place until the structure of the South Stand is in place the roof construction can't start yet.

That is unless Daniel has ordered some Sky Hooks - wouldn't put it past him! Have to be big ones though.
