Oh sarcasm, you clever boy, I bet your mum plants a kiss on your bot-bot every night and tells you you're special.

Clearly, to anybody not behaving like a condescending arse wipe, my trepidation is based on the fact that it's a very big leap for a boy who has played only a handful of games for us, 39 in total, with just 24 in the league and most of those off the bench.

Perhaps it's even possible that, with him having been injured for a long time and until a week ago looking very off the pace, I feel that a sudden new stress to throw at him is not necessary, especially when he's unlikely to even get any minutes. At least with the u21s he'd have gained match fitness wihout any 'first England call up' spotlight.

I think the boy has great potential, but giving him an England call up when he's done nothing to earn it and is barely out of the roughest patch of his career to date is hugely premature in my opinion, I want to see him at least establish himself as Spurs first choice beforehand.

Bot-bot! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Be careful, my mom loves handing out kisses and she is one hell of a hacker, so finding your bot-bot shouldn't be an issue.

As for your logic, I just don't see the reasoning. How is training with the countries best a bad move? Do you actually think Poch is in the club house saying "you don't deserve this call up and it isn't best for your career".

Now where is my mom...

He's exactly what England need, a player who can move the ball quickly.
There's also no real competition for him.
Considering the amount of people who made the call that he'd be going to the World Cup next year at the start of the Summer I'm surprised anyone would be that shocked.

Why should England have to wait until he breaks into the Spurs team to call him up? People still thinking international football is the pinnacle seems bizarre to me. Getting into the England side is far, far easier than getting into the Spurs one. They don't have Wanyama and Dembele standing in his way!

Good for Winks! I can see him getting some minutes against Lithuania and impressing. Really crazy how many Spurs players are going to make the NT.

As long as they dont get injured. I believe Rose got his injury playing for England, but I could be wrong. While the players deserve it, I really dont want them playing for England solely for that reason. Spurs before England any day in my book

I'm not English so I have no skin in the game, but I'm bemused by people on twitter and even pundits elsewhere saying that this is a sign of how far English football has fallen and how they shouldn't be picking players with so little experience and a lot of other rubbish.

But isn't this what teams like Germany, Brazil, France and Spain so all the time? They're always calling up promising young players if they're good enough,. regardless of senior appearances for club sides, when it's time to do so and giving them some experience in the camp and a few minutes here and there to get them up to speed with how the national team plays. I'm surprised by how many people I've seen that seem to be suggesting that the English team is too good and prestigious for that despite being far less successful than these teams.

Good on Winksy I say and good on Southgate and England for having the balls to call up a young player who is clearly good enough and offers them something they don't have, despite his relative lack of senior appearances.

good for Winks I think a lot of us saw this this coming and for fucks sake to those who think this will hinder his career every young player dreams of representing his country how dare he have those dreams fulfilled! with England having just about wrapped up qualification he'll get a lil playing time and it very well may be beside Dier how is this a bad thing again Jesus fucking Christ

Shouldn’t have needed Delph and Jones withdrawing to get the call up to be honest.

Winks getting a call up isn’t a show of how poor the talent pool is, but rather Livermore etc is. I’d much rather have Winks in there with Dier than anyone else.

If England confirms their first place in the table after the Slovenia game, then I think there's a good chance that Southgate might give Winks some minutes against Lithuania.

Usually I'd laugh at how a few good games get you an England call up but this time I really think this is more a sign of how much trust Southgate has in poch and if poch thinks he's got it Southgate is willing to take the risk

Southgate said something earlier in the week about pochs fitness regime so I reckon there is a relationship there, not surprising considering how many recent England players have come from poch

The club and Poch should be negotiating some money from the FA. We seem to be doing the job of developing players for the national team for them!

No wonder Ross wants Spurs so bad, half the starting 11 could be Spurs in Russia next year.
