Another stupid question. In the video where the compression wiring is connected to the concrete how is it connected? Is it just screwed on by some guy or do they get a machine to do it so it's at a certain tightness. I'd find it strange that something so important and fixed for so long, could just rest on a man no screwing something in place well enough. Does that make sense?

Also I find it amazing how organised this is. There was a point in the video above where it looked like someone dumped a load of wood on the floor, and I could imagine myself standing there with my hands on my hips thinking 'Now what do I do from here' but everyone is just flying around doing stuff.
Not a stupid question, but yes the cables are all bolted to steel work by hand, and the bolts will be tightened to a pre determined amount of torque.

In general, where you're going to fix steelwork to concrete, the fixing point is cast into the concrete when it is poured, with the depth and profile of the connector - also probably steel - being designed based on the tensile or compressive forces it will have to bear, so they'll be fixing everything to secure moorings. And the structural engineer will surely have these down as one of the key areas for site inspection.

Aww shucks - and there was I thinking it was just a raw plug and a phillips headed screw! ;)

Actually on reading that again, this is precisely what it is in reality - only on a slightly larger scale.

So are we now talking a year (give or take a couple of days) until we play our first home league match there? I kind of thought it would be the weekend after this corresponding international weekend. Considering how much has happened since the close of the season then things are looking good (I guess!).

Just a pic from the above Chris Cowlin video :
South Stand view from road - incredible how the south stand is now getting connected to the rest of the stadium.
And look at the sheer size of this thing. When the roof is up it will be almost 7 or 8 storey height...

Given paint jobs have already begun & the south stand is getting connected to the 3/4th of the main stadium, I am pretty confident we will get this done on time. I guess in another 2 months time, we should see the full oval outer structure completed.

You both have absolutely no idea. This guesswork is just a waste of verbiage. I've been working in development for 30 years and I don't know.

You cannot tell progress against target, on a vast job like this, by looking at pictures of a building site. You need a copy of the full building programme in your hands and an extensive walking tour of the site before you can have the slightest bloody clue.

Really. You don't know. None of us know. Stop guessing. It's just air.

Glad I have one particular poster on ignore when reading this thread. Means that I can dream like everyone else about it being completed on time and be positive about looking forward to playing there in a year's time.

@davidmatzdorf I have always contended that I have not got a clue about this or any other construction project. But because I am ignorant a the subject matter, does not give you self acclaimed experts the right to tell me to shut up, all because I want to make an opinion contrary to what would be a popular outcome. Let me enjoy the forum as freely as I am entitled to. If my views irritate you put me on ignore, others have.
