Well, I'm sure even Mourinho would of demanded more in possession than that shite.

Yes they got a point but had Liverpool had their shooting boots on they would of got sweet fa.

In fact I think they looked rather open for a Mourinho team in parts of the game.

Mourinho doesn't care about possession in these games, he won't hesitate to concede it and frustrate. Liverpool had chances but their finishing/shooting is poor.

Against City he'll have another plan and against us the plan will be to shut down Eriksen and deny Alli space to run into. Let the other midfielders have the ball and pass sideways because none of them will penetrate. As a result Kane will get frustrated, drop deeper and take more pot shots.

Against Chelsea, shut down Hazard and Fabregas (direct passing) and you're almost there.

Don't really agree with your first line. Being able to hold the ball well in spells in tough away games is vital.

There was a period in the second half when Matic started to do just that and it allievated some of the pressure they were under, it was probably United's best spell in the game.

Mourinho is always pragmatic in these types of games but he still expects his side to carry a threat on the counter.

Nevertheless they were open for much of the first half and whilst the result will of pleased him I highly doubt he'll of been impressed with the performance. It's not like they limited Liverpool to next to nothing in a strong disciplined performance, they were bloody lucky to get the point.

On the flipside, they were disciplined in their execution of Mourinho's gameplan.

I think City will shred them, they have so many outlets, you can't man mark all of them.

We need an outlet other than Eriksen otherwise it'll be a sequel to the early game today.
It will be like Barca Madrid all over again. Mourinho telling his players to be sneaky and kick them off the park, but it will inevitably end in a City win as, as you say, they have too many outlets and players who can turn the game in an instant.

Don't agree with that, if there a weekness in this City team I think it's their lack of power in midfield, I reckon Utd will break up the game and they'd struggle to get any momentum in midfield, I think If you make the game scrappy and win the 2nd balls against this City side then they can look vulnerable.

How the f could Chelsea let him go?
I've said it previously and I stand by it, KDB will be in the same bracket as Zidane, he's that good. I fully expect him to be voted the best player in the World in the very near future.

Abramovich must be buying cats by the truckload just so he can kick them all after letting De Bruyne go.

Agreed. To Mourinho, being in possession means a higher chance of committing mistakes and mess up. He would rather let the opponent have possession, and force them to make mistakes because of it that his team can exploit. That's trademark Mourinho stuff.

Citeh --- look really good going fwd but Stoke were embarrassing. Without KDB they are good but he makes them very, very good going forward.
Midfield and back 4 are still a bit shit when attacked to be honest.

Problem this season is that they are going to be flat track bullies and hammer teams outside the top 6 (and teams within that group if they get lucky breaks like the Mane sending off). Really hard to live with that pace particularly at Wembley.

Shame as we could and should have easily won against Swansea and Barnsley....would have made the gap 1 point instead of 5.

Teams with 5+ Goals in PL game this season

Manchester City v Liverpool
Manchester City v Watford
Manchester City v Palace
Manchester City v Stoke

Man City are the 1st top-flight team to net 29 goals in their first 8 league games of the season since Everton in 1894-95 (30).

Man City look good in attack but it will be interesting to see them play a proper team who can attack and defend. The Stoke goals yesterday showed how weak they are at the back if you can get the hall off of them.

But they have already they played a team who can attack (liverpool), breezing past them, and they played a team who can defend (chelsea). I thought chelsea would play the counter attack to great effect but it didn't work out like that and city ended up looking like world beaters in that game. They prove themselves against us and United and I think they really will walk it.

And in another sorry indictment of modern football, Brighton vs Everton is about to kick-off at 1.30pm on a Sunday for live television coverage... in India.

Looking at it again, Andy Carroll's second yellow yesterday should probably have been a straight red.

Liverpool should have won but that's a recurring theme with them.

I think it's a risk you can take against them if you trust your players and tactics.

Fair point but it'll take a big task to beat them like that. You can't deny KDB, (David) Silva, Aguero and Jesus space. Throw in the full backs squeezing inside as midfielders and Sane and Sterling and it's too much work. When you get the ball you'll lose it almost immediately because you've been chasing for long periods.

I think the best way to beat them is to take the game to them like Napoli will in their upcoming games. Expecting a lot of goals in those games.

The way we beat them at home last season was also a good template but I think it's needs tweaking this season.

This is exactly what i was referring to in my post.

I don't think it'll be too long before we see in-game advertising banners on every TV football broadcast, not just American soccer broadcasters like NBC. Grimy inevitable I feel. Not the end of the world, or too distracting, but not ideal.

Yesterday when I was watching the Melbourne City/Victory game, every time there was a goal they would go to an advert during what would be the goal celebration and restart. The price of having the game on free-to-air TV.
