I think this game will be the closest league game in style to the Dortmund home game. They'll probably have most of the possession, but we'll expose their weak defence and score at least 2.

I really think the kane llorente combo csn work again. No way pool can handle both of them. Son is abit loose in possesion for my liking.

Lloris
Toby Sanchez Vertonghen
Trippier Dier Winks Davies
Eriksen Dele
Kane

Vorm, Aurier, Rose, Sissoko, Son, Llorente on the bench. Last spot choose between KWP, Foyth, Edwards, and Georgiu. Of course, this is if Dembele, GKN, Wanyama and Lamela are all still out.

It's a difficult one with the opposition and our injuries but if Davies is back, I would go:

Lloris
Toby Sanchez Verts
Aurier Sissoko Winks Eriksen Davies
Kane Son
Bench: Vorm, Trippier, Rose, Foyth, Dier, Alli, Llorente

If Davies is still ill:

Lloris
Aurier Toby Sanchez Verts
Winks Dier
Sissoko Eriksen Alli
Kane
Bench: Vorm, Trippier, Rose, Foyth, TOB, Son, Llorente

Lloris
Toby - Sanchez - Vert
Tripps - Dier - Winks - Davies
Eriksen - Kane - Son

I like this.

Maybe Aurier for Trippier because of the pace of their attackers, but the Dier and Winks midfield should be able to sit nicely rather than bombing on and leaving us exposed to the counter attack.

Also Son is likely to do better work defensively than Dele, and is also more useful for our own counter attacking ambitions.

I think Aurier's been a slight liability in the last couple of games he's played.
I'd prefer him to bring him on as a late sub for a few games.

This is the only domestic team that last season had the better of us over both games. I would like us to setup as we did against Dortmund or at least do the opposite we did last season.
Giving Liverpool no space in behind and hitting them quickly on the break I believe is the way to go against them.
They had us over a barrel at Anfield, but they weren't the better team in the home game. Draw was definitely a fair result.

He has but at long as he learns he'll be a great asset down that right hand side. I'd persist with him so long as he stops making the same mistakes.

Not really sure what I'd like to see. I can definitely see the argument for starting Sissoko and boy does it feel good to be able to say that, to be able to get some use out of a player who admittedly looked a bit hopeless is fantastic. But yeah, I also don't want to miss out on what Winks provides. If it was a sit back team I'd say Winks but in this case I'm not sure.

Then there's the debate over Alli, I think he should start but I do wonder how long he can keep his place if he's not improving in performance, especially if you have players like Llorente who put in a great shift the other day, Son who's waiting for his chance, Lamela coming back etc. I think it's healthy for the team to say whoever you are, if you're not performing there are good players behind you who could potentially take your place and we can say that in regards to most positions on the pitch.

I would go with

LLORIS

TOBY
SANCHEZ
JAN

AURIER
DIER
WINKS
DAVIES

ERIKSEN
KANE
SON

The main decisions here are Trippier/Aurier and Alli/Son. I plumped for Aurier and Son simply because they have pace. And I feel we will have to play a more conservative way in order not to leave outselves open to Liverpools counter-press. With this in mind I think the pace of Aurier/Son will be essential for us on the break. Also, in terms of squad harmony I think it makes sense to play Son as he wasn't involved much on Tuesday. We will need him sharp and in a positive mind set if he is going to make a contribution throughout the season. Dropping him for two games in row after he made such a great impact last season won't do much for his confidence at all.

Lloris
Aurier
Toby
Sanchez
Vertonghen
Davies
Dier
Winks
Eriksen
Sissoko
Kane

Couldn't decide between Son and Alli (both out of form) so went with Sissoko instead for pace and power.

I think this is hugely unfair on Aurier.

Yes his tackle against Madrid was rash, but to be honest 90% of defenders would have done a similar thing. And he was excellent for the rest of the game.

He's much more 'all-action' than Trippier, but this seems to have given him the label of being 'rash'.

The Madrid game meant so much for the club and the team in so many ways, but I think that us beating Liverpool on Sunday will almost equal that.

It is a team we have consistently struggled against and if we manage to turn them over then I really think it will be because Poch has devised a game plan and the players have followed it through. Hopefully this happens.

Im amazed people wouldn't play Aurier and Dele.

I suspect Poch will surprise us with his team selection somewhere though. Just no Son at left wing back and I'll be happy!

I’d play Aurier against the Dippers and Trippier against the Spammers.

With time, Poch will teach Aurier to cut down on his rash tackles but we’d need him against pool because they have too many speed merchants.
