Much better player than Shearer imo, as Zidane said, he is the complete player, not just goals, he has it all.

Maybe, but Shearer was a beast. Harry would have to maintain his current superhuman levels for a decade to surpass his goals tally, which suggests he was pretty bloody good.

I remember Shearer well. An incredible striker who could regularly smash goals in from 30 yards, great in the air, and superb positional sense. Have to respect him for staying at Newcastle on purpose too.

Shearer was awesome (and ignored the flirting of the big clubs, ie United, to play for his hometown club). Harry is awesome too and fingers crossed he breaks all the records as a lifetime Hotspur.

Shearer also had three seasons post- premier league formation where he managed only half the games or fewer due to injury. In the first year of the league he actually scored 16 in 21 ( and there were 42 games until 1995).

Additionally, most of his career he played with a strike partner who would have been the recipient of a sizeable chunk of the teams chances (Newell, Sutton, Ferdinand, etc).

Shearer was a phenomenal goal scorer, I believe Kane will be remembered as his equal but there's a way to go yet.

Gary Lineker Hilariously Responds To Zinedine Zidane With Brilliant Harry Kane Tweet

Gary Lineker has stoked his rivalry with Zinedine Zidane by brilliantly Tweeting about Harry Kane following his heroics for Spurs against Liverpool.

The Leicester City hero and the Real Madrid boss have been embroiled in a war of words over Karim Benzema.

Lineker claimed the French striker was a 'tad overrated' after his underwhelming display against Spurs in the Champions League.

Is it me or is Benzema a tad overrated? A goal every other game in a team as strong as Real Madrid is nada especial. Decent not great.

Naturally, Zidane leaped to the defence of his striker while addressing Lineker's remarks.

"It's not just Karim, he's annoying me with [what he says about] Karim because, for people who know football, it's embarrassing," Zidane said viaGoal.

"He's the best number nine for Madrid, by a long way. Karim will not score 60 goals, but he will score 20 goals and assists for 30 or 40 more.

"It bothers me when people talk badly about my players. For me, Benzema is the best. For me, a striker doesn't only need to score goals. Karim has everything, not only the goals," Zidane added.

But Super Sunday saw Kane bag another pair of Premier League goals with Lineker taking the opportunity to post a Tweet directed at Zidane.

Harry Kane scores again. Thankfully Zidane thinks Benzema is the best so they won’t be interested in poaching him.

The prolific England international has been heavily linked with a transfer to Real Madrid with Zidane an admirer. Even going as far as saying he's the 'complete player'.

"It's a great compliment and one I will take as a positive, take in my stride and try to use as confidence. I'll always keep working on stuff. I never feel you can always be the best so I will keep working at things," Kane toldSky Sportsin response to that huge compliment.

Will Kane swap the English capital for the Spanish capital, in the summer? Watch this space.

What a player!

I just can`t belive it! What a magnificent time to support spurs.

Think 3 years ago - and harry kane was good at everything - but you can tell how much work he has put in to become the best striker in the world imo. now his great at everything.

His accelaration, his finishing, his stamina, his shoothing, his whole fucking reportoar is just getting better and better.

And he is ours!

what an athlete - what a person.

Unbelivable.

I am 100% sure Kane this season has increased his speed in short sprints. That left footed drive into box was a thing of beauty, shame shot was blocked.

It's pretty clear he is only improving. Only "weakness" was his speed but now looks like somehow Kane has got some marginal gain somewhere in diet or training regime to get that acceleration by a good margin.

They would have also shared a sizeable chunk of the attention of the defence and teams are much better ar setting up defensively now than in the 90s.

If Kane scores 18 more goals this season and plays in every game, he will have scored the same amount as Shearer did at the same age but Kane will have played 70 games less.

Shearer's stats are interesting

He really racked the goals up with Blackburn, but was a tad underwhelming at Newcastle; 10 seasons there, but only scored 20 or more league goals in 4 of those seasons

If he had have signed for Man Utd, instead of Newcastle, he probably would have scored 300+ goals for them lol

People also forget (or never knew) that he was scoring in the league for Southampton before the Premier League was even formed. But as they were "First Division" goals they don't get counted. Add those on and it's another 23 goals.

I think it's common knowledge that football never existed until the PL came along.

Brilliant again today. That pass for Sonny, magic

86 league goals in 122 games now

WOW

What makes these stats even more impressive is that a fair amount of the games were from his early days when he got subbed on for the last ten minutes or so. His "minutes per goal"-ratio must be sensational.

IMO, he hasn't actually added speed that was not there earlier, but he has a vastly improved his sprinting technique to unlock the full potential of his pace.

Minutes per goal in the league this season is something like 98.
