Kinda shows maybe we do need to refresh some parts of our squad to cope with increased volumes of games.

Hopefully Walker-Peters will start to make his mark to give us more full back options and Son is a worry as doesn’t seem to have that winning mentality - he’s kinda like a typical spurs player of the 90s who can be a match-winner one game and complete rubbish in the next, which we can’t afford now (And I’ve always been a big Son fan).

And having to play Sissoko in attacking role is not good, he does okay in engine room but not further up. Shame Lamela wasn’t available as would have been good option today.

I think winks has got a lot of potential but his first thought is generally backwards or just be a wall pass. He's got the ability but he needs to take the ball more on the half turn.

He's been class today. A few passes have totally carved them open. I wouldnt change a thing about the way he is playing.

Everyone thinking beforehand that we'd be flat today, that we'd struggle, that we'd be poor.
And what do the players serve up?
Exactly what we thought.

Really ?! He’s had a few really good games, away at Madrid, Home to l-pool. The whole team is shit today not just him. He’s a good player Palace just making it difficult and we started too slowly as I expected we would.
Are our wires crossed here? I thought you said you were disappointed with him in the final third?

Anyway, his attacking game has been gash, generally speaking. Too tentative and not a lot of evidence of a footballing brain.

And his crossing is atrocious.

I don't think it's fair to single any one individual out today, they're all helping eachother look this way because of a serious lack of urgency in the movement. They need to pass and move, not pass and stop, and that movement needs to have some more intensity so they can lose these average Palace defenders being made to look pretty solid.

Not going to be too harsh on the lads. Bullshit KO time, tough night Wednesday, players out etc. But...

> Auerier doesn't look fully fit. At least, I sense there's another 10% gas in there that a MoPo pre-season would sort.
> Sissoko. He's doing ok, no worse than others, but his on-going lack of precision in touch & pass is infuriating and, medium-term, unacceptable.
> Kane - shouldn't be on the pitch IMO.
> Son & Eriksen - both going through one of their occasional phases of suck.

On the positives, all our back 3 have been excellent + GK did well with the save. Rose and Winks industrious.

100% about the 3 points from here. Don't care how it comes or if we're terrible second half. Just get the points. I'll go for Davinson from a set piece on 73mins for a 1-0 squeaker win.

Where have the energy levels gone? Last season we always found a way past the bus parkers but this year we seem to lack that invention. Son and Eriksen very dissappointing so far, Kane hasnt touched the ball since his injury. Poch needs to fire a rocket at half time

Tired on playing these games against trash teams at Wembley.
Same thing every time, luckily there can't be too much more of these Wembley bus parking scenarios this season

He gets such an easy ride on here.people seem to think hes doing well because hes passsd a couple of balls square and not constantly given it away.not sure what he is good at.decent engine maybe.strong.ok hold up play but certainly dont have an once of creativity in his bones.
He tries his best and he's done a job for us considering the amount of injuries we've had this season, but that doesn't mean he is good enough to be a long term option for us. He just isn't.

Dislike this all you like people you know it’s true though. We look slow and predictable as we often do against teams who park the bus.

It's true.

THe only way we win these type of games is with a scrappy or lucky opener goal that then forces the opposition to change their game plan (which is when we are able to score more)

Without that opener we can't break down and beat these shit, balls to walls desperate defensive teams, we just lack the inventiveness... which is why I feel incredibly frustrated by people who refuse to accept that we need 1 more special AM. Man City have several so they do it on a whim.

Do that and we have a good chance of winning.

Just use Son as an out-and-out marksman as he's wobbly as fuck today receiving the ball.

just play him in. If he continues being shite then take him off after 20mins and stick GKN on and push Kane back up.

If Aurier doesn't pull his finger out, stick Tripps on and give him 30mins.

FFS, if the mug pundits say "up the tempo" anymore I'm going to implode. Idiots.

Palace are doing exactly what they should be doing, what Hodgson has spent a career organising teams to do. Sitting deep, pressing intelligently as soon as the ball is in there half, clogging the pitch. We are actually moving the ball reasonably well, have got our FB's in decent positions, but a combination of defending and waste hasn't quite allowed us to make something out of them, especially Aurier who has wasted every one. If Son hadn't bumbled it we'd have maybe even had Kane clean through.

We are doing pretty much all you can do in games like this with the players we have. We desperately could do with another CM who could offer some wit and craft instead of Sissoko blundering around, he's utterly pointless in a game like this as a CMbecause there's no room for him to charge into, we are not counter attacking.

Fucking Hargreaves "they need to play the ball forward quicker" - fucking plum. You can only do that when a team is all over the place and attacking you. We can't just start rushing or forcing it, we will get careless, give the ball away with everyone piled up field and play into their counter attack perfectly.
