I remember years ago, an ITK, (I don't recall who), mentioned in passing there was a player in the squad who had a very concerning situation with their ankles, that was chronic, and could lead to another Ledley-like problem. Again, my memory is hazy on this, but I think the implication was it could be just small handful of players they were referring to, one of which was Bale.

as much as i'd actually love to see him back with us, I believe that he'd likely spend more than 40% of his time injured. which essentially is a waste of a wage. I truly hope to be proven wrong, and that he can make a full recovery and play injury free for the rest of his career, but if past is prologue, I don't like this chances.

He hasn't got an ankle injury

Would have to guess it was Dembele.

He used to burst past players every week with close control ;) (some world class) Rarely see him go by players in La Liga unless it's a Sissoko-esque 30 yard kick and run. Rare to see a change of pace from him now.

His game is more about muscle now than ever before because when he came Ronnie was pumping iron and he thought it was the way forward. It wasn't.

Even if we could afford it, his body has given out from under him. So agree with most that we shouldn't entertain this. He should go to the middle east or MLS and ease into retirement.

Can see his career going the way Owen's did and becoming a impact player from the bench. He's just too injury prone these days and he's not had a full season with Madrid since 2014/2015.

The guy is a legend for us but I wouldn't want us to break our transfer record and salary cap for a player who we'd struggle to play a lot of the the time.

Dude he's 28, not in his late-30s.

I wouldn't mind if Poch thinks he's the right one if he falls within our financial structure both in transfer fee and personal terms. Poch's team of coaches will be able to get the best out of him again.

Too injury prone...wouldn't touch

Certainly seems that way, although Poch's training methods might actually help get him properly fit, because it seems to me he always comes back before he's anything like fit. Maybe because he wants to show he wants to stay there & to do that he has to play or maybe RM want him to play before he's properly fit.

He's been playing at pretty much the highest level since he was 17. That screws a lot of players over to the extent they're just not the same by the time they're in their late 20's - see Owen, Fowler, Rooney amongst others. Not saying he should be heading to the MLS just yet mind you but I can certainly see that he'll never get back to the level he was at when he left us.

That ship has sailed
hit an iceberg,
sunk,
been refloated
curently in dry dock
where the estimated cost of repairs
is too expensive to even think about.

Can't see him coming back, not sure he'd want to drop from 275k a week wages to 100k. He won't be the same player he was while he was at Spurs, he'd win us a shit lot of games but we would be lucky to get 18 games from him a season. Levy wouldn't wanna break the bank for him

I think United, Chelsea or Munich will come in for him next
