I appreciate everything Bale did for the club and I’ll always be a fan of his. But if we’re going to spend £70 mil plus on a player and put him on massive wages, I’d rather not spend it on a 28 year old injury prone wing who’s lost a step or three. There are much better ways we could spend that money.

The only reason I think it might happen is the new stadium. Always thought Levy would want a marquee signing as the poster boy. And you couldn’t really get more perfect than bale. Levy may just look at it as a loss leader. In that it may not make the best sense financially at first glance. But the kudos and spin offs may make it worthwhile. I’m pretty sure there will be a marquee signing, just a question if bale fits the bill.

would take him back in a heartbeat, even if he is perma crocked. But only if Bale really wanted to come back, which would mean a massive wage cut. Personally dont see it happening, so I hope he goes to Manchester and becomes a giant blackhole on their wage bill.

Would love to have him back but not at any cause. He`d have to fit the wage structure (I guess give him what Kane has) and the price would have to be "acceptable".

I will be amazed if RM don’t try and sell Bale in the summer. Considering the season they are having I can see them going balls deep for Hazard and Bale, with his injury record and rediculous contract, being the patsy as it were. Saying that, the only team I can see him going to is Utd, they have money to burn, we don’t. I actually think he will go for a cut price, RM will want to make anything they can on a player who spends more time on the treatment table then the starting 11 and will hope the signing of some like Hazard will cover up any public outrage at the financial loss. But even if he goes for 40/50 mil he will still want big wages and even if we can afford them, we need to be spending them on players that will be fit for 80/90% of our games not 50%. I love Bale, and would love to see him back, but if we have a chance (according to ITK) of getting Pulisic, he would be the wiser move. Unless Bale is injury free.. which he probably never will be.

Where was the Pulisic link?

the stadium will be ready but a bit embarrassing showing bale waving to the crowd, only to have him turn and go back to the treatment tables before the match begins....

His dodgy back was always going to cause him problems the older he got. It's why he's had so many hamstring injuries.

I'd love him back but the amount of injuries he's getting now would make him too much of a risk. Trouble is, I'd hate to see him playing at another English club.

Looks like he needs to drop about a stone in weight and get back to the long distance runner physique he had with us. Think he's just carrying too much muscle

And so it begins...

...or, you know, continues.. Whatever.

Story:

Real Madrid are paving the way to sell Wales star Gareth Bale.

The Spanish giants have placed Manchester United, Chelsea and Spurs on alert as the Bernabeu hierarchy have become increasingly frustrated with his injuries.

The latest, a thigh problem suffered while attempting to return after a nagging calf injury, is likely to rule the 28-year-old forward out for the rest of the year.

Real Madrid are now open to the offers for their £85million star, who in more than four years in La Liga has won the Champions League three times, the Spanish title once and the Copa del Rey once.

Loved Gareth when he was here but we've moved on

I love the fairy tale of Bale coming back to us just because he loves us and taking a massive pay-cut in order to make the move possible. Even if he played 50% of our games, he could make our attack pretty devastating.

In reality, he'd cost too much, would be offered bigger wages by a few other clubs, and he's injured a lot. I can't see it happening.

For the supposed money quoted I'm just not sure it could even be a viable option with his injury record. I mean it's getting pretty damn bad now. He'll be looked at in the same light as Sturridge regarding injuries if he keeps going.

If all of a sudden we have a huge chunk of money become available for players wages it needs to go to our current superstars in order to stop the vultures from circling. Bale is a wonderful memory and that's the way it should stay.

Doubt he's headed back to us (obviously), but I'm not so sure he'd be going to any of the likes of Man Utd, Chelsea or Man City either.

If we're talking a £70m+ transfer fee and £200k+ on wages, I'm pretty sure those clubs would use the cash to bring in a younger player (e.g. Griezmann or younger).
