So, all explanations should be short? Got ya (y)

It's a good job Karl Marx is dead...he'd be devastated at all that time he wasted on Das Kapital when Flashspur won't read it 'cos it's too long for his dainty heed. Shoulda just wrote "Rich people are villainous"...that would be a book for the ages!

Sorry Dude I couldn't help it. I actually like your stuff and read it all. I just thought you made your point half way through your reply and then over embellished it a wee bit :D

I've obviously missed it somewhere but from the turn of the conversation it seems that some pundits must have been telling people what to post and how to compose their posts.

In my opinion any such pundit is a biased cockend with a massive agenda against Spurs forums.

This thread is weird.

This thread has morphed into the 'English Literature' thread.

@SP I realise that this post is succinct and to the point, as Ionman34 would appreciate, but do you have any suggestions as to how it could be improved in a literary sense.:)

Wouldn’t it be good idea if we had somewhere just for posting what the pundits are saying about us?

Maybe a thread with a name like “What the pundits are saying about us.”

You never know. It might just work.

This thread is like the Lord of the Rings trilogy, goes on for far too long & mainly bores the pants off me, but it helps me get a good nights kip so I ain't complaining

Dumbed-down is the new black [sic.].

So, I would probably start with "Fred" rather than "This thread" - give it some real street authentics (because, y'know, everyone from the street is an illiterate with a vocabulary of five words, most of which meld). You may wish to revise "morphed" - far too many syllables and quite a difficult concept to master, too. Probably better to just say "now sumfing like", instead (that'll have Janet Street Porter frothing at the gash). And then "English Literature"...nah. Too many big words and a hint of cultural imperialism. Safer just to say "wrote stuff".

So: "Fred now sumfing like wrote stuff fred". Much better...you'll have the Pulitzer people telling you to prepare your acceptance speech, and no messin' (y)

Was quite annoying how bias the commentary on the Ireland game was.Heard about 3 versions on the eriksen goals. And every single one was basically “oh dear they’ve scored.”

Nice Guardian article by Jonathan Wilson: "The Gulf between Tottenham and Arsenal is big...and it's getting bigger"

https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2017/nov/16/arsenal-tottenham-emirates-saturday

I rather liked this paragraph:

"And what perhaps makes the inversion of roles most galling for Arsenal is that Tottenham have not accelerated past them with the sort of injection of cash that has elevated Chelsea and Manchester City. This is not financial doping. Tottenham are an example of what can be achieved through careful husbandry, a faith in youth and the establishment of a collective that works both tactically and psychologically".

  • The original point, strangely, for what has ensued, was that Shelfie and friends were spamming this thread, as with others, with their Manchester City fappathon
  • They had already been told bluntly, in one line, that they were spamming the thread with their fappathon on how fantastically great Manchester City are - they ignored it
  • My original post was not that long, and intended in a startling but good humoured way to jolt them into seeing that they were spamming the thread
  • Due to Shelfie's reaction I added an addendum, still not making the post that long, explaining that they were spamming the thread, but in simpler language
  • Strangely, especially considering none of my posts were that long, it has all mutated now into berating me for writing long posts (as though short, but idiotic, posts are preferable in a discussion forum)
  • I often compose short posts, folk just remember sometimes I composed some longer ones - it's like a grudge but that's seemingly okay
  • Strangely other posters write much longer posts more often than I do now and face no opprobrium (funnily enough, your first post on this page is longer than anything I have written in the last two)
  • The original point, that Shelfie and friends were spamming this and other threads with their obsession with how great City are, and awarding them the title already, has miraculously been lost by referring to long posts and me in the same breath
  • Better (y)

This post is aesthetically pleasing to me lol.
