The narrative is that we need to win a trophy I thought, Alan Shearer for example has been pretty critical about us and the lack of trophies in particular being knocked out of the League Cup. As always though the media and other fans follow a narrative, the narrative is that Spurs will be legends/underachievers until they win a trophy...if we win the League or FA Cup, it will be Spurs will be legends/underachievers if we don't win the league, it's very very predictable.

Agree, but it also raises the question, why, considering the hundreds of millions spent on transfers and wages, aren't Liverpool considered legends/underachievers by the media?

I reckon because the media love a narrative, gives them something to hang onto and to write and talk about. Fuck knows but I'm sure there's a reason why they constantly love to push such an agenda.

I think they are a little with regards to the league.

Its not so long ago they won the CL. I guess they havent bottled it since as theyve been nowhere near...

Agree with that, but it still doesn't explain why. Apparently we underachieve, even though we've spent less on wages than the other title contenders we and haven't bought any 'stars' like afore mentioned, so how is we're underachieving and bottling when, according to financial and player recruitment statistics, we shouldn't even be contenders?!! The media's 'Spurs' narrative is utterly ridiculous!!

I think we are currently seen as over-achieving in the media sphere, for the reasons you are stating.
It is also why, imo, we wont be taken seriously until we get that first major title, because we are full of promise and potential - but not coming at it from the nouveau-classic, Oligarch/sugardaddy approach - which makes us kind of fragile compared to our rivals.

The concept of being legends is virtually entirely a rival fan narrative, rather than a media one as far as im concerned.

Fam, ting ting blad, ya get me fammy?

The education system is failing children in this country.

That's just street talk taken from the Jamacain Patois and Urban American vocab but it's nothing new though, vocabulary has always changed and new words have been bought up since the beginning of time, we're just seeing more of it now because it's all over social media which we subscribe into.

I know it's nothing new but when there is a website on the BBC dedicated to "pidgin" you have to start wondering about where to draw the line between embracing cultural diversity and encouraging stupidity.

Street talk and slang is nothing new, hell, I used to sound like a moron when I was a teenager and it's even worse now because like you say, we are exposed to it via social media on a daily basis (although to be fair, I don't use social media whatsoever anymore, I got tired of all the social justice bs and handclapping to make a point emojis) but these guys aren't exactly kids, they are grown men and they sound like idiots blud.

One could argue that the reason why they are talking like that is the need to appease their subscribers.
