Still can't quite believe how quickly he has settled into the team, I guess having Toby and Jan either side of you helps a tremendous amount.

He makes it all look so easy.

Comes from the Maldini school of defending: dirty socks and last ditch tackles mean he's not doing his job properly.

Still stunned in how that this calibre of player choose to come to spurs. He's got it all defensively, physically, mentally and technically. Think he's going to become the best defender in the world at some point, as long as he stays fit.

No pressure then...

Sanchez had Barcelona option before choosing Ajax
By
Shane Reid - November 17, 2017

Davinson Sanchez opted to join Ajax ahead of Barcelona two years ago, his former coach has told Sky Sports.

An article written for the broadcaster tells how Juan Carlos Osorio, now in charge of the Mexico team, discovered Sanchez as a 17-year-old in Colombia and signed him for Atletico Nacional.

And according to the the article it’s the centre-half’s performances,as Atletico won the 2016 Copa Libertadores, that attracted the attention of a host of European clubs including Barca, but Osorio said he advised him to move to Amsterdam instead.

“I remember him calling me and asking if he should go to Ajax or Barcelona, who were also interested,” he said.
“I just thought the best thing for him was to play football, and maybe in Barcelona he would not get playing time, he would be a sub. That is what he decided to do, and then he went to Holland.”

Sanchez had just one season at Ajax, in which they were beaten in the Europa League final by Manchester United, before he joined us for a club-record £42 million in the summer.

It adds that he has become a key part of our side, forming a back three of Ajax alumni with Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.

“He played a very good season and Tottenham decided to go for him,” Osorio said.
“That’s fantastic to see, when a player can have such an improving career in such a short period of time.”

The article says that Osorio added that he remained in touch with Sanchez, saying: “We still have a good relationship. He is very happy at the club, and the playing has made him a better player already.

“With Vertonghen and Alderweireld, two central defenders of that calibre, they have made him improve as well, so I think he’s enjoying all that.

He added: “He’s at a very top club as it is. In the future I think it will all depend on him and how serious he trains from now on.
“Based on his age, the future is bright. He can play at a very high level.”

There was a lot of questions asked considering the fee paid for a relative unknown quantity but he has settled in so well it’s like he’s been playing for years. £42m was a lot but he’s certainly justified it

No ever really mentions his price rag anymore. That says something, I guess.
It's actually a good point. The fee paid for Lamela and Sissoko has often been seen as a millstone with a lot of people criticising them in the context of the fee. With Sanchez, apart from immediately after signing him, I've not really seen anyone comment on it as not justifying his performances.

We sold Walker for £11M more at the same time.

I think the transfer market has caught up with the Lamella fee.

The Sissoko thing needs more time....

Whilst we've been gash today for large portions against Arsenal I think he has another very good game. So calm on the ball.

Brilliant again today. If the Ref hadn’t given a free kick for a great tackle he could quite well have been MOTM today

Lucky scum ****s
