Australian squad named for the first 2 tests. A couple of surprises.
Steve Smith, David Warner, Cameron Bancroft, Usman Khawaja, Peter Handscomb, Shaun Marsh, Tim Paine, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon, Jackson Bird, Chadd Sayers

Matt Renshaw the notable omission. Not surprised at all. Has looked terrible in the first three Shield games. Bancroft will open with Warner. He is coming off a double century in his last match so in great form. Tim Paine gets the nod with the gloves. @Spurs_Bear I had completely forgotten about him! The selectors hadn't!

Some very random selections from you boys. Paine isn’t even keeping at the moment for his state and Lehmann has a more recent Sheffield Shield century to his name!

At least with Bancroft and Warner opening you’ll either be 100-0 off 10 overs or 15-2 after 2.

So two players with 7 first class games between them, who two weeks ago were playing club cricket and neither of whom have played a shield match pilfer maiden centuries against England's bowlers. Inspiring.

Unless they pull their fingers out we are so going to get our arses reamed when the serious stuff starts.

Jeeeeez, I wish I was more positive, but I haven't seen anything that makes me feel that way. and I'm left clinging to the hope that the usuals play to their potential.

A bit like the turkey looking forward to Christmas, I can hardly wait for The Ashes to start and I fully intend to be up all night Thursday morning with copious amounts of tea many time re-plenished (isn't the facility to pause live-TV a God send these days...)

Any other cricket obsessed loonies out there looking forward to a series of all nighters?

Absolutely. I'll watch the first session as planned (weather in Brisbane permitting) and then regret it for the whole of Thursday.

Yeah I'll be up, it'll be interesting to watch BT's coverage and compare it to Sky, who are (IMO) really good and have commentators who know the game very well and they get it across in an interesting g and entertaining manner. IIRC BT got Swann, who bores me rigid (and who I think is an utter **** for the way he quit) and Pietersen who has the charisma of a turd floating in a swimming pool so I'm not holding out much hope. Pontin is OK though.

Yeah, some of the Sky lot need pensioning off, but not looking forward to having to listen to Swann, Vaughan, and Pietersen in this series. Potential for a Swanny and KP bust up though I hope...

Really considering buying BT for a few months for this...

Was hoping Mobdro would see me right but it's getting to be a real pain as I have Sky broadband and they just block any connections to that or other streaming sites so have to use a Proxy. which is another expense/pain.

the only problem with not having it on BT is that i'll have to watch the whole thing live (rather than save and whizz through the nonsense) which is nice in theory (something so nice about being wrapped up watching the ashes still stupid o'clock...) but in reality i'll be a zombie for a couple of months:hungover:

Any offers out there for BT sport? (haven't they just hiked their prices?)

For a skinny little bald-headed scrote, Nathan Lyon sure has got a big fucking mouth.

Rarely do you get guys this eminently punchable.

I personally thought Swann was the same! :D
Depends what side of the world your from.
Nathan really didn't need to stir the pot the way he did though. Proof will be in the pudding in less than 48 hours.

Just some very personal attacks and big words coming from a bloke who looks like he weighs about 6 and a half stone!

I’m sure the Aussies will win the tour but the thought of him gloating about it sticks in the neck.

Interesting bit on the podcast called "Pomnishambles" on bbc about that. Sounds like there was a lot going on behind the scenes that was an accident waiting to happen.

Finding the trash talk from both sides a bit embarrassing, smacks of two average sides hoping to get one over on the other through shouting the loudest rather than the cricket doing the talking. Warner having a go at Stokes as well seems completely pointless, he's not even out there.
