At the lane yes at their place? No. Form goes out the window for this game. If you want to take form into it though...

Such a pointless stat really, thats going back about 15 years, and for the vast majority of that we were not a top 4 team.
Dont get me wrong, we need to improve away at these teams, but Im sure if you looked at all the other teams outside the top 4, the stat would be very similar...but I guess that doesn't fit the narrative right now?

I didn't see to much of the game, my connection is a bit sporadic! However, I did see that the back 3, at 2 nil down, were yet again tippy-tappying the ball around, not achieving much.

Later on down the pub it came to me, like a Eureka moment. (Bare with me someone has probably already said this). When we play 3-4-2-1, or even when we play 4-2-3-1 ( you get the drift). The 3 at the back and the centre 2 in front of them, are like the heart beat of the team. If they are passing slowly, barely giving the receiving player time to think, the players ahead get into the mind set that we have control of this, every thing is good and positive, we can relax. However, if the back 3 and the 2 CMs are passing quickly, then the rest would naturally get more positive and be more ready to receive the ball.

Now, in this analogy, what the heart beat of our team needs is a pacemaker. Someone who keeps things ticking along at the right pace. A guy with the vision and ability to slow it down or speed it up as necessary. I think our pacemaker is Harry Winks but he was not fit enough to start. So the question is who else do we have, or do we need to buy to be a second pacemaker? This is a rhetorical question as this is not the right forum, but I hope you get my point!
If you ask me what I think we need is an all round midfielder. We need someone with real quality there.

Someone who keeps things ticking along is very important but they also need to have a physicality and quick thinking about them too. I think Onomah can be that player in possession, but it remains to be seen whether he has the midfield aggression that Winks has yet. If he can develop a competitive streak he would be perfect to have there.

I’d like to see what he could do in sissoko’s position in the 3511 we seem to be playing at the moment

truly don't understand our fans who minimize things like our injuries and related issues. Leic and Chelsea only won the leagues because they had no European competitions and an incredible run of luck with injuries. This season with a level playing field (CL/ Europe for the contenders) we have had terrible luck with injuries and fitness and some of our fans minimize the impact....
What the fuck are you going on about Chelsea win stuff every year whilst mainly always in European competition, Leicester was a one off please don't keep making excuses.

I thought the officials spoilt the game today for both sides. More for us of course but also for them to prove that they could score a legitimate goal against us.

The officials gave them the position being able to set 9 men behind the ball, essentially game over.

Yes we didnt do,well with the ball but i thought we deserved at least a draw

Nothing went for us. Hit the outside of the post they hit the inside.

Two bad calls in a row gifted them the initiative and then the energy and tone was set what with the insufferable gloaty fans.

You realise our shit record we have only beaten them twice in over 20 years at their place and we have similar with a few of the others it's appalling.
We've been nowhere near them in quality for the vast majority of that time mate, we need to improve but its an irrelevant stat in all honesty.

Everyone knew they would be up for this and the high press was a pre requisite which we must of expected but were totally unprepared or had the required quality to counter this.

We never stretched thier defence as Trippier and Davies are no Walker and Rose in the way that the aforementioned two have the pace and power to push further forward and occupy their fullbacks

We played the perfect game for Arsenal yesterday and we need to learn not to fall into this trap against the other top teams.

If we set up like this against City they will murder us.

I don' think it is mate two wins in 24 years is a disgrace in a game of that magnitude derby games often can go either way.

I just realised that we lost 3 of our last 5 games. Two wins were with Real and Palace. I think we can all agree that against CP we were very lucky. Have we all distorted the truth that something is not right with our form, with this Real win?
Lets admit real were shit. All the other teams played better than them including palace

Its a crap record, but its not a disgrace considering the state of the two clubs over that time.
You look at City vs United over the last 20-30 years, its massively skewed towards United because they were in a different ballpark to City for the majority of it.

After getting drunk as fuck today, here's my thoughts:

Pochettino got it utterly and completely wrong. He is getting very counter attack happy now after the Madrid results. It will continue to cost us as it is not the way we normally play. You dont do that against a shit Arsenal team, ffs. We were awful today though. No one turned up. Miserable performance. Thoroughly outplayed and deserved to lose. Stop blaming the ref. We were very poor today. Very.

? We didn't play on the counter though, we setup a high defensive line And dominated possession.

You're right. If we were set up to counter, then we would not have given them all that space in behind that they contiually found as a conseqeunce of playing a high line.

Without Wanyama and a fully fit Dembele to win the ball back high up the pitch and fend of pressing counter attacking against the big teams is probably the way to go tbh. Poch's a smart man, I'm sure he'll work it out.

Our record against the top six is dire in general and I think that those teams and all the pundits know that we are still a bit of a way off in terms of competing in their back yards.
But I will have to let go otherwise everyone will think I'm being picky or negative but in reality I'm a very happy chappy.:)

This.

They loaded up their defence after it was 2-0 and blocked and stopped us by whatever means possible and
could counter attack at ease.

It all went well for them on the day I'm afraid.

That’s a straw man argument you’re using to beat this particular team with though. We’ve only been a “contender” over the last what, 3 years? Go back the 20 years you seem to think is relevant and we have a club that was recovering from criminal mismanagement, whilst they were regular title contenders and winners. Under Poch that is their first win.

I posted the other week the away records of our current rivals and they’re comparable, only none of our rivals have had the recovery from virtual bankruptcy that we have, so to compare us to them over 20 years is pure sophistry.

Couldn't bear to watch MOTD last night, what did the pundits say about the foul and offsides ?

Still you would have thought a club who have been European regulars for ten years could scrape a win here and there at big clubs. Smaller and less able sides have done it more than us.

Spurs sides of old didn't care about clean sheets. Poch and this side are mostly very solid except when it comes to these games where individuals make big errors and our midfield looks flaky.

Why?
