Terrible news IMO :(

Absolutely, he's been a great player for us under Poch. Unfortunately if he is disgruntled though (i'll take the papertalk with a large dose of salt), it's time to plan in order to get the best possible value from him and the best possible replacement.

Whilst Aurier is still getting up to speed, i think we've done great business with Walker's money - You could say that covered Sanchez's signing too to an extent. If we can do similar with Rose, bearing in mind Davies has looked great this year, then i'd be more than happy.

It's no longer doom and gloom when we lose a player in my view. Poch is a man who can maintain stability and rework potential into excellence. I have faith in him to sort things out.

If he is desperate for a move that he will stink out the place and not put effort in....then he clearly is not interested in going to the World Cup.

It's simple: if he wants out wait until the summer. If he acts the twat stick him in the stands and he'll have ample time to pick his new club as he won't be going to Russia.

Very good post and very true.
If he holds any world cup dreams then I've always been told to get my head right and do what's needed to secure his place on the plane..
What better way for anyone in any job than to show even if you're not happy; than to do your job to the best of your ability and something better could come along. If you sulk, whinge and moan in a corner then in many jobs you'd just get fired- we are not going to do this, but in a World Cup season sitting in the stands or training on a match day doesn't project a professional outlook to others.
I hope he turns it around and gets back to his pre-injury fitness levels. Then his performances start to push for him to start more for us- IF HE PUTS ON A SPURS SHIRT HE GETS MY SUPPORT AND IF HE WANTS to leave go next summer - after all he signed a long term contract

We 100% cant sell him to a rival.

We’ve already improved one selling Walker and can’t do it again selling Rose.

i can see the rationale and think it is something Poch is pushing, sell Rose get Shaw and maybe 40m and i can see the logic if he is being an arse

But it sends out a terrible message that we sell our players to rivals and what happens if Dele or Dier want to go, all they need to do is kick up a fuss and we sell, look at VVD and Couthino, they wanted to go but were forced to stay, if we do make them stay then they have to fall into line as on long contracts

Apart from financially it would be a terrible move for Rose to go to Man U, Jose doesnt like his full backs crossing the half way line

money is pretty meaningless from a team point of view as it seems to make little difference in what we bring in
Does it? We spent every penny of sales over the summer didn’t we?

I’ve pretty much comes to terms that our transfer funds are only what we make from sales.

Sell Rose and we’ll probably buy a cheaper replacement and another player out of the money

If they that desperate for Rose, we can insist on Martial.

I'd happily pay extra for Martial on top. He's exactly what we need.
there is zero chance Man u will sell Martial to us
They wont improve a rival and they probably know we will sell Rose anyway
It will be Shaw and cash imo

This isn't really a suprise after what he did in the summer.

We need to make sure we line up and agree a deal for a replacement before we sell Rose, so that we at least give Poch a chance this time.

Aurier coming in on deadline day - having clearly bailed on Ricardo Perriera earlier in the window - meant that Poch had no time to work with Walker's replacement in pre-season. And that has really shown in Aurier's performances.

If United want him just say straight swap for Martial or no deal. We can't allow the money clubs to just buy their way through our squad - charging them high fees makes no difference because they have unlimited money. You have to make them pay in other ways.

We sold Walker to City, they are flying but I think they still would be without him.
Selling Rose to Man Utd would have the same effect, IE: it wouldn't make much difference with the squad they're building.

Selling Walker funded Aurier and Sanchez, give or take, so that was a shrewd bit of business for us. I'm far happier having Davinson than walker anyway.
Selling Rose can have the same outcome with the money spent to improve our squad further.

I know KWP probably isn't up to it, atm, for consistent back to back games if Davies gets injured but I'm sure we would manage.

We really just need to get back playing our pressing game again which was missing last game.

VVD had to stay because there was a clause in his contract which meant that he couldn't leave Southampton in the summer, Coutinho also didn't kick up a fuss, he became unsettled due to Barca's interest.

To be honest you may aswell just copy and paste all the posts from the Walker thread in here, it’ll save everyone a lot of time.

Football is a game of fine margins, having the best player in the league in his position does make a difference.
