Looooool. Was brilliant against Liverpool and Real Madrid and everyone was sucking him off. A bad game and now we should replace him with Barkley. Dele hasn't had a great season so far (similar situation at this point last season), but he's still scored 7 in 14 games and he's only 21. The guy got 35 goals and assists last season at such a young age and people think we could replace him with ease. Fml.

He hasn't played anywhere near his best this season, I don't know the reasons behind that but anybody who thinks we should sell him must be delusional.

His great skill is his timing and intuition. Scoring the volume he does is no fluke and would be a reason he'd sell at a massive fee.

Considering his age, he deserves a lot more slack than others, but it's not an excuse to just do whatever he feels like in a game.

If he really wants to scale the heights though, he could really do with focusing on the basics. Retaining possession, making the easy pass and working hard. Just ditching the fucking about, showboating and trying to dribble through people would be a start at the moment.

Heard an interesting stat today, Alli is the second most dispossessed player in the entire league, behind Jordan Ayew. With Andros Townsend third, despite the fact that Townsend attempts the second most dribbles and Alli the 30th most.

I know we have to quantify and qualify, and when he's producing goals and assists galore it becomes a risk/reward equation that's more tolerable, but when he's not that equation is drastically imbalanced.

Just caught up on 8 pages of this thread, the fuck is wrong with some of you? Seriously have a fucking good look at yourselves & be careful what you wish for. I feel shamed for being a Spurs fan right now. I love you Dele and appreciate how lucky we are to have you

It's a hard one because you don't want to tell a player like that to just keep it too simple, a lot of the good things he's done in the past have been from doing the more complex but I almost like him as a player so much more when he does keep it simple. Trapping the ball, playing the pass quickly, running into spaces, not running with the ball with no real thought of what he actually wants to accomplish and by that I mean he has a tendency to dribble with the ball, normally down the line with nowhere to really go and in the hope of coming back inside with a nutmeg or something.

It''s basically just the ball retention that I'd like to see him improve in. He'll become an even more valued player if he gets that sorted.

Wouldn't mind seeing him CM in a 343, with Lamela and Eriksen behind Kane.

This...I for one stand by the idea that his best position is CM in a 3 or even a 2. He is best when the game is in front of him, verse being a player that needs to hold up the play. He is the first pass in the 1/2 not, the 2nd IMO. His flicks and tricks have paid off being the 2nd piece of a 1/2, but it's his running from the midfield and popping up in the box at the right time that are his strengths.

KISS (Keep it Simple Stupid). This may seem crazy, but I actually see more of a KDB in him than an attacking 3. A very poor mans version of KDB, but he does have the vision and creativity when playing from deep. He had a couple balls in the Real (? may have been liverpool) where he found Kane up top with well placed through balls.

Play him there, get him involved in a simple matter, and his career will be set. He can still come good with 15+ goals from that position.

I’ve been saying it since before Liverpool (when he was played deeper) that we should play him in a midfield 3 because of our injuries there.

I still think so but now because of his form. It would protect him but he’s also so athletic that he could get forward too.

As a youth and MK player he was always a CM.

Definitely agree with the past few comments, he looks much better in CM than further forward. And with Winks (or Dembele) and Dier (or Wanyama) alongside him, he'd have license to roam and break forward when needed.

Quite, because we find buying top quality attacking players so damn easy at Spurs .

Thought he was very poor today and should take the lions share of the blame for the West Brom goal, he gave the ball away far too easily. Was lucky to still be on the pitch for the assist to Kane's goal.

I prefer the stat - Played 82 PL games - 31 goals, 18 assists, 51 wins 11 draws

Good setup for the goal, and the two in the week our fans need remember we are watching a 21 year old grow here, love you Dele. People learn from mistakes and no doubt he will learn from this.

I feel we are putting a lot of pressure on all our young players, most of the time they are delivering and yet some are trying to destroy them for the times they don't.

I think because he’s set such high standards with his end product that the other deficiencies in his game are standing out.

I’ve been one of his biggest supporters on here, but it can’t be denied that he’s playing poorly this season.

Your right though, in that he’s young and will inevitably go through poor periods of form. He definitely doesn’t seem as confident in the final third. Seems to be harder work for him, where everything was instinctive before. And yet in other areas he seems to be over-confident and sloppy even.
