We need to admit that arsenal is far better than us today. However, it is largely because Ozil and Sanchez give a shit again. I can't see them signing new contracts for arsenal (well, especially you realise how good Man City is). It is still interesting to see whether Arsenal will sell them in January or let them go as free agents in summer. Either way, today's game definitely shows that it would be a disaster for them in the coming future. All we need to do is to wait (and win games)

I think Arsenal have gone past the point of recouping any cash for them. They showed their value to the team if they actually put in a shift.
I think they will be off in the summer but the value to the team when they play outweighs any small return they would get if they sold them in the winter tw.

They will probably start to play last half of season to attract suitors but will be gone in summer.

The buck stops at Wenger a) not insuring that they were not in their last week of contract and b) failing to put together a team capable of competing at top level.

A couple of FA cups papered over the cracks. As we are potentially going to find out, if you are not consistently competing for and winning the elite trophies your top players will start looking elsewhere.

They will have to replace possibly 10 players next summer due to age/contracts/injury. These aren’t fringe players. Ozil sanchez mertesack Giroud Ramsey wilshere cazorla etc. There’s no way on earth they can just go out and buy like for like will cost about £400m. They will have to go route we did and try and buy young promising talent relatively cheap. Which is why they’ve got this Dortmund scout in. But there’s absolutely no guarantee they will be as lucky as we have been finding the dele eriksen Dier rose etc. I honestly believe without serious serious investment they will more or less take our place of last 10 years that’s if they are lucky 4 to 6 th . Possibly it could be a lot worse for them.

My only fear this season is if they continue to play a 2 nd string in Europe it’s almost like they aren’t even in Europe in terms of affecting PL performance. This is only way I could see them coming above us and if ozil Sanchez play out their skins to get great deals for next season.

Can't see Ramsey leaving. He seems very much in his comfort zone at Arsenal. They'll keep the majority of their players.

Ozil and Sanchez will go, Cazorla and Mertesacker will probably retire and that'll be mostly it. They'll replace Ozil and Alexis with two decent players and they'll plod along just fine.

The key for Arsenal will be to make sure they get those two replacements right.

Nah you’re under estimating the situation. By summer will have x10 30+ players and 15 FIFTEEN players out of contract or in last year. Ramsey will be 27 in summer with 1 year left on contract. If they finish 5/6 th again I think he’d seriously consider his future. Could see him at Chelsea or pool.

First of all with goalkeepers neither Cech or Ospina will leave.

In defence, I can only see Debuchy leaving who barely plays anyway and Mertesacker may retire. Monreal won't leave.

In midfield, Cazorla will retire but they haven't really missed him anyway. Obviously Ozil and Alexis are going. Ramsey will still have a year left and i'm not sure Wenger will be quick to sell. He seems happier at Arsenal than Oxlade-Chamberlain did and eventually I think he'll sign on. The Wilshere situation is uncertain.

Upfront, Giroud loves Arsenal and I doubt he will leave this summer. I doubt Welbeck will leave but I think Walcott will.

Essentially they need to replace Ozil and Alexis first and foremost. Then they'll probably need 1 or 2 defenders and possibly a midfielder depending on Wilshere. I think Wenger has the kid Nelson in mid who could replace Walcott.

They have barely missed Cozorla, you sure about that?

Also if Sanchez and Ozil leave which is looking likely that's two of their best players (When Ozil can be asked) it's very difficult in itself to replace one of your best players let alone two.

No you're right it is difficult but it's almost do or die for Arsenal. I think they'll spend whatever is necessary to get the top talent. I think they'll be looking at the likes of Lemar and Fekir who are excellent players.

The only way Arsenal may be affected is the impact it may have on other positions. They won't make any money from Ozil and Alexis and they're going to need to spend big on replacements. That might make them struggle to sort out their other problems in defence and central midfield hopefully.

When Cazorla played, he was their best midfielder by a country mile. They've definitely missed him.

They do have a lot of players out of contract and it looks bad for them. BUT, they always fall on their feet. As we saw Saturday, two bits of bad officiating/luck worked out for them. Unfortunately they wont have a decline, well not until Wenger leaves. They've got so much cash in the bank that if (and its a big if) they get the managerial appointment right after Wenger then they will be a serious side again. But we all know how difficult it is to find the right manager.

Squad wise to replace ozil Sanchez mertesack cazorla with players of equal quality you are talkin £200-250m and that’s being conservative

Cech will be 36 and starting to look it
Koscielny will be 33
Debuchy 33 just a body will leave
Ramsey as said a year left.if has any sense will see what they do in summer
Wilshere most likely leave
Walcott last year as well most likely leave
Giroud will be 32 and last year as well

As said that’s 10/11 players in next year or 2 that will need to be replaced. And I haven’t included dead wood like chambers and akpom.

So as I first said without major investment in next 2 years they will be on the decline.

I don't think all those are urgent to next summer though. Koscielny is still a high quality defender and I suspect they will only replace him and Giroud the following season. Giroud in particular has never relied on pace.

Arsenal's priority has to be to begin the rebuilding process by signing replacements for Ozil and Alexis first and foremost. Once they've got that out of the way they can look at their other less important squad players.

Lost to cologne then.

I hope the are in the shitty Europa league as long as we were. It really is an awful competition until it throws up funny results like last night.

There are still a lot of Clubs in it that are 5000 miles away, hopefully their draw is kind to us

Two weeks ago I couldn't see how they'd finish above us. I'm a little concerned now. We really need to sort these Wembley performances against these teams who come for a point

Arsenal agrees deal with Borussia Dortmund's 'diamond eye' chief scout Sven Mislintat. what a coup. next target ZORC for DOF role

Apparently signing that scout effectively rules Tuchel out of the Arsenal job as they had a big falling out at Dortmund.

To be honest, I really don't see what the big deal with Tuchel is. He was all hyped up as the next superstar coach but I've never seen anything from him to suggest he's anything other than a run of the mill manager to be brutally honest. He was at Mainz for 5 years, during which he had a couple of decent league finishes, then went to Dortmund where he basically maintained the status quo, with a 2nd place and 3rd place finish, during which time he managed to fall out with just about everyone at the club.

He's done absolutely nothing exceptional at all in his career and that coupled with the fact that he's a "difficult" character to work with makes me wonder why he's always linked with the top jobs whenever they come up.
