Can't be good for your knees can it?

I would be happy never to see this at the new white hart lane.

And that’s it. We now have a complete set of threads on every subject.
I don't think there is one about the new pitch yet..
What happens if the pitch gets stuck half way and nothing can be done.

This stuff keeps me up at night.

I read somewhere years ago that Fergie banned his players from doing it after Solskjaer tore a ligament with his iconic CL final celebration in 99. Doesn't bother me personally but it does seem a bit daft to risk injury for the sake of a celebration when you think about it

Fair point. Players injuring themselves while celebrating goals... kinda embarrassing too

Yeah Solskjær struggled with his knees for the rest of his career after that celebration. Daft, but I completely understand that he lost his head a little in the heat of the moment.

What's wrong with a good old fashioned handshake, a chorus of 'well played, old man!' and a dignified return to the centre circle to await your opponents re-starting the game.

That's how we did it in my day..................

Knee slides to the nearest camera...pfft. Next you'll be telling me they use moisturiser! Ha!

Great thread. Modern football faces many challenges, but nothing threatens the fabric of the game to the same extent as the scourge of the dirty knee.

Speaking of celebrations that annoy people, this one really did my nut in. Why the hell did he decide to dance like this after scoring a goal in these circumstances. I'd have full on shoved the corner flag up my arse

As a keen gardener who likes to keep my front and back lawns in pristine condition, my sympathies are with the groundsmen who have to repair the damage to the fescue these knee-sliding idiots cause.

On behalf of the nations groundsmen: Ban knee-sliding!
