An English team will eventually prove to be our Achilles heel I think. I would rather play them in a one off match in the final, on a neutral ground. I wouldn't fancy our chances of getting a point or a win at Stamford Bridge or Old Trafford.

Look if we want to win this thing then we have to face a Bayern or Juve eventually so why not knock them out now ? We can beat any side in Europe over 2 legs. Don't get me wrong, i would like an easy draw and I think we deserve an easier game considering finishing 1st in this tough group but we can beat anyone
I admire your stance, but I believe in a certain dose of cynicism in these things. Early on in the knock-out stages, I'd prefer the other giants to face each other as much as possible, so that they can eliminate one another.

Winning tournaments like this is a lot about ability but also a lot about luck. And almost every tournament winner in football is somewhat aided by a little bit of a lucky draw. Now, we were firmly tested already in the group stages and aced it. So we don't really NEED to prove ourselves. What we need the most, is that other teams throw out a few of our closest rivals.

That's my feeling too.
Mourinho will look to snatch a draw at Wembley, then control the game a Old Trafford.
I think we can beat City but it's a big ask over two legs, I expect them to go all guns blazing in at least one tie.
Chelsea, yep the whole Stamford Bridge thing is a nuisance, add in the fact they seem to have our number at Wembley too.
Liverpool I can see us beating, although I think they'll be knocked out in the next stage anyway.

Are we assured 2nd leg home tie as group winners ? Or it’s how the balls come out ?

yes group winners play the 2nd leg at home for the round of 16.

great result now, however far we go I'm still proud of the boys getting this far. only 2nd time out of 3 attempts we have got out of the group stage, and both were the group of death as group winners(y)

Yeah classic Mourinho if we got United. Park the bus at Wembley and wait for us not to turn up for the OT leg again.

It's funny because I actually think we can beat all the foreign teams but could come unstuck against all the English ones with our away form at their grounds. Even Liverpool would do us yet again at Anfield.

Let's not worry about that until we come up against them. I'm sure our lads will have become wiser and Poch will be able to outwit Maureen, or Pep or Cyclop.

I’ve a feeling whoever wins it this year is going to have beat 2 English teams.imo there will be at least 4 English teams in 1/4 finals. Imagine beating pool United and Chelsea in final :ROFLMAO:

Why does everyone (media, fans...literally everyone) keep referring to us as "group winners"?

If we lose to Apoel and Real beat Dortmund, we will finish second. Real is only 3 points behind and already has better goal difference than us.

It's head to head before goal difference.

Because they are right and you are wrong that's why. ;)

In Europe goal difference doesn't matter it goes in H2H.
