Fancy Jadon Brown becoming a very good option at LCB in a three. Be interesting to see if he can develop, he has a great opportunity to do so imo.

Agree with you on Marsh, but I think the only way Bennetts makes it to the very top of the game, playing champions league/top 6 pl football, is as a FB/WB. His passing isnt intricate around the opponents penalty area enough to be a good consistent option further forward. From deep he sees the pitch a lot better and his pace and power is a lot more useful. Yes he needs to work on his defensive side, but if Rose can make the transition, then I back Bennetts to do the same.
I am sure you would have watched Rose play when we first brought him in the reserves and would agree he was not the best winger you would have seen, but what he was good at he was very competitive very Aggressive and at the time very rash in the tackle but he would tackle, whoever talked Rose into playing as a full back has done him a massive turn.

Bennetts is completely different to Rose of old and does not play in that way,Bennetts wants to get on the front foot he wants to go at people without having to worry about coming back and of late he has been struggling a bit but he is not to blame for that.

Why convert Bennetts anyway because you have Brown Tsaroulla and if we was to try and buy Ryan Sessegnon then that is 3 players who are more suited to playing that role and I would say the same for Marsh as a RB.

BLF will be the best LCB but as a LWB or LB Tsaroulla or Brown would be perfect for that role.

Id convert Bennetts bc attacking wise imo he is a lot more effective attacking from from deep and wide. In our new system our wingers/attacking midfielders tend to stay high and drift in. While Bennetts is good drifting in since he's very two footed, he's a player that needs space to attack, which you get more from the FB/WB position.

Defensively Bennetts needs to improve on his recognising of danger, and willingness to commit to defending, but I dont see his lack of aggro as a detterrent for him to becoming a good defender. If he wants to make to the top anyway he needs to work up a top workrate anyway, regardless of his playing position.

I dont see any of the other three options as quite fitting our flying FB role. I think while Sessegnon can absolute boss from there, he'd much more likely to be an AM and we arent nailed on to get him, especially if we are going after Richarlison. Unless Rose is off in the summer. Brown is more in the Ben Davies mold, I see him becoming a verisatile cover for both LB and LCB. Tsaroulla, I just dont rate him that highly, I may be wrong, but I think athletically he's limited and technically he's not strong enough. He's got a big heart and is a smart lad , he should have a great career and one day play in the Prem, I just cant see that being with us.

Tsaroulla such a shame he has had injuries this year was looking forward to seeing who would win the battle out of both him and Brown.
I have always liked Brown but Tsaroulla is a good player in his own right and he has a lot of fans on this forum.

Agree on Sessegnon we should have done a deal in the summer, think he might end up at City.

That's fair I totally get that you rate Tsaroulla, i know plenty who do, im just not one of them. I like how you rate both Brown and Tsaroulla, I dont get those who like one over the other, just bc they play in the same position.

Over the last few seasons they have both pushed the other on because of the competition between them both.
Both have had the starting spot and both have lost it to the other player, so over the last few seasons it has been 50/50
between the two but both have benefited from this because both know that there is a good player trying to win their spot.

nah, windy and thfcacademy usually notice them and tweet them out though.

@Jake1882 also makes a lot of good player comps - his youtube channel is jakemantonthfc.

Should start your own account on twitter. You’ll have few thousand followers in no time with these videos. Can lead onto all sorts of stuff well worth doing if you’re looking to get into the media side of things.

Any chance you could do the whole Dortmund game ?

Least you could do seeing as how you forgot to give me enough advance warning to sky plus it first time round.

i'll see what i can do but will have to wait until tomorrow as i don't have the time tonight.

Great work by Shashoua for the Brown goal, but really impressed with Brown's composure and footwork for the finish. Was Brown playing LB ?

yeah, the team was -

austin
eyoma tanganga lyons-foster brown
skipp ------ marsh
p.maghoma
edwards -------------- shashoua
sterling

That's a very decent and well balanced looking team isn't it. This current U19 group is the best group "together" since that Pritchard/Kane/Veljkovic/Smith/Bentaleb group isn't it ? Especially as there a couple of other decent players who could go in there as well isn't there ?

Haven't seen much of Maghoma, have I ? What age is he ?

he's 16, you wouldn't have seen him bar the odd few minutes at the end of a couple of previous uyl games.

He is starting to play u18s matches but because he is so young their is not a lot you can say at this stage other than he has good footwork and has a good shot on him but he does do some bad things that he needs to work on but overall he looks good.

Will be s unit as well already over 6 ft .gives him a bit of a head start imo,if you have the physicality at a young age.Sure if Edwards was 6 ft with same skill set we’d have seen him in 1st xi.

With the Apoel game a dead rubber now the only thing that would encourage me to go to the game would if we include some youth players from start.
Hopefully Poch does a full rotation (he'd be crazy not to) but along with maybe Aurier, Rose and Dembele would be amazing to see Edwards, TOB, Sterling and Shashoua. Maybe Skipp too.

Would love to see this against Apoel and would make it much more interesting to watch:

Vorm
Aurier Tanganga Foyth Davies Rose
Dembele TOB/Skipp
Edwards Sterling Shashoua

It would be a slap in the face to both Apoel and Dortmund, and I doubt Poch fields such a team. It will be another game for the senior players to work on their form. I can see Foyth playing, Son will likely start. FBs will rotate. Could see Llorente in for Kane - but I suspect Kane will want to get at least 60 minutes and a goal or 2. If Winks is starting PL matches - Dembele probably starts here to keep his sharpness.

I would guess that Eriksen sits, Dele plays - since Dele already missed the first 3 CL matches. Sanchez and Dier will probably play. I doubt Wanyama is ready - but if he was ready, this would be the game for him.

I wouldnt go that extreme but I like your thinking.
My team would be
Lloris
KWP Aurier Sanchez Foyth Rose
Sissoko Skipp
Edwards Alli
Sterling
bench: Vorm Davies Dier Dembele Eriksen GKN Llorente
Still a competative side that should give APOEL a fight, while giving our lads a good rest.
