Just win the next 5 games before we play city and then see if we have earned to right to talk about catching them.

Top 4 would still be an achievement this season if we can make any impression in the champions league. We would have learnt to play on the big pitch at Wembley and matured an awful lot. But we desperately need a trophy. If not the champions league then FA cup would be lovely.

It should always be our default position to be aiming top four with the current squad. Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t aim higher too but definitely not take top 4 as a given. We slip out now and it could be disastrous.

I don’t read his comments as we forget the league but more cement top 4 first and then see what can happen from there.

Nice to see him talking about future seasons as well

I fail to see how he can declare himself happy at the performance. Sad, frustrated, dissatisfied, maybe, but happy?

As sad a person as some of you may think i am, i went back as far as 1993 and looked at the top six, (away from home results).

For the most part the PL winners (top four as well) had a patchy away campaign, and in some cases a single odd win and a couple of draws, and lots of losses.

Far too much is made of this stat, Chel$ea won the title and dropped twenty one points, but against the top six away:

Woolwich: Lost
Spurs: Lost
Man Ure: Lost
Liverpool: Drew
Man City: Won

So the main thing i noticed and is bloody obvious is that a top six side does not have a piss poor home record.

Straight out of the Archibald & Crooks phrase book.

The reason we have been getting top 4 is because we were genuinely aiming for the title.
It is harder to get motivated aiming for fourth place and one slip and you're in the europa.
So this looks like very bad advice to me

Top 4 AND the FA CUP and I would be delighted.

City's £$millions and current standings says the title is theirs to lose, so top 4 is fine there.

But getting the trophy monkey off our back is essential. CL would be awesome @jenko but all guns blazing for the FA cup for me.

I hate to admit it but he's probably right. Not so sure our captain should say it publicly but I struggle to see us above City and Chelski. Let's be sure we give the FA Cup 100% if this is our view. We can't rest players in the cup to go all out for fourth place.
