Since the u19 team need to avoid defeat to top their group and avoid the play-off isn't it unlikely that any of those players will be used for the first team? If anything I expect the likes of N'Koudou, Foyth and Llorente to get some minutes.

I wouldnt go that extreme but I like your thinking.
My team would be
Lloris
KWP Aurier Sanchez Foyth Rose
Sissoko Skipp
Edwards Alli
Sterling
bench: Vorm Davies Dier Dembele Eriksen GKN Llorente
Still a competative side that should give APOEL a fight, while giving our lads a good rest.

Agree crudely, but if Edwards et al get starts KWP must (in reply to the original poster) he and Foyth are the closest to first team squad players.

Think Aurier would be a bit short for CB. Dele out GKN in.

We basically have 18 fit outfield players plus inbetween Lamela Who May feature as sub in PL games. I’d say will be 3 kids max involved. You have to show some respect to crowd who already bought tickets and to competition as Apoel/Dortmund still fighting for Europa.

With the Apoel game a dead rubber now the only thing that would encourage me to go to the game would if we include some youth players from start.
Hopefully Poch does a full rotation (he'd be crazy not to) but along with maybe Aurier, Rose and Dembele would be amazing to see Edwards, TOB, Sterling and Shashoua. Maybe Skipp too.

Would love to see this against Apoel and would make it much more interesting to watch:

Vorm
Aurier Tanganga Foyth Davies Rose
Dembele TOB/Skipp
Edwards Sterling Shashoua

Not going to happen.

The Apoel Champions League match may be a dead rubber but the EUFA Youth Champions League match is not. We only have a one point lead over Dortmund and need to beat Apoel to win the group and avoid a play-off game. Only the group winners automatically go into the last 16; the runners-up have a play-off game against one of the 'domestic' champions.

Maybe KWP, Foyth or Georgiou will feature for the first team.

I do wonder the difference in mentality between our fans and other fans.

Fans of other teams like Man Utd and etc are screaming out for their young players to be played whereas we find it disrespectful, you would think we are very successful to have that mentality

Its funny because playing overtly strong teams in europe for the past few seasons has meant that in order to keep players fresh at the end of the season we have had to play weakened teams in cup competitions to prioritise the league in the final stretch of the season

The point is we will most likely have 8 players who haven’t played on the Saturday. So there’s absolutely no need to play a whole team of kids.

People say there is nothing to play for vs APOEL. Well, for a starter, I don't think Levy won't be after the €1.5 million winning a game at the group stage earns. APOEL is not as bad as people think and by playing "half" of the U-21 Spurs for sure would struggle even to get a draw.
Besides, team generally want to keep a winning streak going.

Aurier spent most of his last season at Toulouse as LCB. It was a bizarre bit of management, not because he was terrible there, though he wasn’t great, but because he was one of the best RB’s in the league.

Some of the best centre backs of all-time were under 6 foot, and in today's game, I don't think being tall is as important as it once was.

Most of those had other qualities which compensated like composure and great reading of the game etc, not entirely Aurier’s forte

That's a very decent and well balanced looking team isn't it. This current U19 group is the best group "together" since that Pritchard/Kane/Veljkovic/Smith/Bentaleb group isn't it ? Especially as there a couple of other decent players who could go in there as well isn't there ?

Haven't seen much of Maghoma, have I ? What age is he ?

Hard to compare as that age group was an u21s age group. Bentaleb never really played u19s with all of them, but only a year difference. Also Onomah/Winks age group never had an u19 compeition to compare with but they'd be up there. I'd say though this group in terms of ability and depth is better than the others.

Taken from Windy's blog this was the team that featured in the opening game against Inter when we won 7-1. Kane, Munns, Bentaleb, Coulthrist and Ceballos also featured in this campaign

Jonathan Miles (18)

Jack Barthram (17) Kevin Stewart (17) Milos Veljkovic (15) Daniel Day (17)

Jake Nicholson (19) (c) Massimo Luongo (18)

Alex Pritchard (18) Laste Dombaxe (17) Tomislav Gomelt (16)

Souleymane Coulibaly (16)

This team would be born after 93, with 3 overage players at 92
-----------------------Archer----------
Barthram------Ball-----Veljkovic--Stewart
--------------Carroll-----Luongo-------------
Ceballos---------Bentaleb---------Pritchard
-----------------------Kane--------------------

Would arguably be the best team

This team would be born after 96 with 3 overage players at 95
-------------------McGee----------------
KWP-------CCV-----Ball----Ogilvie
-----Winks-----Veljkovic-------Onomah-------
Oduwa---------Harrison-------Georgiou/Miller/Azzaoui

Or our current team. In terms of best first 11, your splitting hairs.

Trying to remember what everyone was like at that time.

This age group's keepers are a lot better, but I really liked Archer, and didn't massively rate McGee. Really like Whiteman but nt seen him in a while, but say Whiteman.
The defence, I'd probably go with the 96 team then our current team, then the 93s
The midfield triangle is very difficult but on what I've seen so far, I'd argue that the 96 team pips the 93s. But they're both incredibly confident. I'd argue Veljkovic>Luongo, just but then they are playing slightly different roles, but incredibly close, Onomah>Bentaleb, and Carroll imo just better than Winks at this point. Either way both are better than the current, but again lack the depth.

The 96s overall attack is probably the weakest Kane is the best striker, but I think Edwards and Shashoua are better than Pritchard and Ceballos, though I rate Pritchard very highly.

As I say though the depth of this group and the ability is ridiculous and you can more or less throw anyone in the current team and be just as strong. Whereas for the other two I was struggling to think who back ups might be.

I don't understand the logic of this prioritising qualifying for the UYL group over giving first team opportunities to the best of that group.

Surely their final development is the end goal, if they get promoted brilliant replace them with the next player. That is much better opportunity for them than playing in a UYL group decider. It's about development not results ultimately. Regardless you can move Edwards and Shashoua up, and put in Roles, Bennetts, Clarke. Promotion to the first team is the ultimate goal. We've got more than enough squad to come in and win that group. Either way APOEL beat us last time so no guarantee with anything, give more opportunities to other players.

Saying that I don't expect anyone to be playing in against APOEL. I don't know why we need to care what Dortmund or APOEL do though, we've earned the right to give young players an opportunity through how well we've played

There’s plenty first team squad players needing game time though.

ATM Edwards etc aren’t first team players so won’t be involved. Let me play and go as far as possible in the UYL.

Edit: I class both Oakley-Boothe & Georgiou as part as first team squad.

Looks to me like some could do with a break. We've had a lot of injuries and some players have barely had a rest, if not now, when else will there be a chance for young players to get a chance? They didn't get any it in Carling Cup, won't in FA Cup. So just wait til next year and see if any appear in Carling Cup again I guess

Based off what?

Based off the fact they are with the first team squad day in day out.

Foyth, TOB, Georgiou, Nkoudou, KWP, Vorm/Gazzaniga, Llorente all need game time. Then you got the two full backs that turn it’s time to play.

Maybe could add a few on bench so main players get the whole night off I suppose but can’t see it happening.

How can a player be part of a squad when there is a 99% chance they won't start any match this season and a 05% chance they won't feature again.

Surely squad members are genuine options to the manager. And I can kind of see what you mean but then at what point does a young player ever get a chance, surely squad players will always need game time
