If we’d scored a late winner and ended up winning the title, you think he would’ve come out with this shit ever, let alone now? He’s basically saying he didn’t send our players off when he should have so imagine if we’d won the title based on his confession that we had 11 men on the pitch when we should’ve had 8 or 9. Leicester would’ve rightly gone mental.

Atleast he allowed us to watch Dier clatter three Chelsea players. The one on Fabregas(?) could easily have snapped both his legs
I quite liked the Lamela one where he walked up to Fabregas who was lying face down, then looked into the crowd as he stood on his left hand..and got away with it

Coming out with this "it was my grand plan all along" angle now is just Clattenburg being Clattenburg. He bottled it on the day, like he often did. He didn't have the courage to do his job in a proper manner, and now has the nerve to paint it as some glorious master plan.

Let's say Dier had broken Hazards leg when he should have already been sent off?

I think he meant that he went into the game determined to err on the side of caution and not give any harsh decisions that could affect the outcome of the game when reviewed in isolation (e.g. a contentious straight red or a penalty). Media always make sensational headlines out of these stories and given Clattenburgs ego it was not difficult in this case.

I am still adamant that we did not lose the title, Leicester won it. The run we went on from January to end of April that year was phenomenal and would have won the title if Leicester hadn't had such a head start.

But it still grates that teams like Chelsea tried much harder against us than they did Leicester.

Maybe. But he let that game get out of control. If he'd have done his job and booked a Chelsea player or two it would have calmed things I'm sure.

Even if we had won that game, Leicester were winning every game so its moot

The outcome of the title probably wouldn't have been any different. A referee admitting to such levels of unprofessionalism certainly is not 'moot'. Don't forget this is the referee who was suspended for 8 months after sending death threats to someone he owed gambling debts to.

If he was issuing death threats, why wasn't he prosecuted? The last time I looked, it was a crime to make such threats. Also, sports officials and gambling don't go together. His 8-month suspension should have been a lifetime ban from any football-related activity.

I listened to that podcast yesterday, and obviously as a Spurs fan the discussion about that Chelsea game stood out to me, but during the whole course of the interview I was shocked at how much of an egomaniac Clattenburg came across as. So much "I'm the best referee in the world" and "People tell me how great I am." Just over and over and over. Truly unreal.

Because the FA are spineless.

I think most referees will have that attitude. They are in control of the whole game and everyone in it.

Only one thing for it. We have to replay the end of that season over and over until we win it. Same goes for the Ireland v France playoff too. Clattenburg and Henry, both ****s.

Our recent form means it's open season on Spurs again. Strap yourself in, it continues until we get anywhere near the top again. Which isn't going to happen anytime soon until we get back on track sharpish.
