With everyone banging on about form and showing a good attitude should Tanganga not have been considered for this squad because no one has shown more consistency than him.
Maybe if there was a need for him but with Verts, Sanchez & Foyth ( and Davies as emergency ) there isn’t really a need for him.

Vertonghen shouldn’t be anywhere near this squad imo. He’s played virtually every game + internationals is the wrong side of 30 and our only available recognised CB for next 3 PL matches. Should be at home with feet up. Totally unnecessary inclusion in squad.

Maybe not but at some point we are going to have to show Tanganga some rewards for the hard work he has put in over a very long period of time.

Just to add he will be on bench which makes it even more pointless. I know people will say he’s on bench so being rested. But that’s still not the same as being able to totally switch off for 3 or 4 days like kane and dier are getting to.

“ long period of time” he’s 18? I like him agree I’d have had him on bench instead of vertonghen. But in reality he is probably our 8 th choice CB.(when Ccv returns)

That’s your opinion but doesn’t change the fact he is so makes the Tanganga inclusion unnecessary.

How old is Sterling 18 or 19?

Because we are so desperate for someone other than Son,Kane to get us goals we are happy about a18 or19 year old Striker to get a chance, but when it is a CB he is too young just does not make sense to me.

My point was, if Edwards has this bad attitude which is being implied by others not me, why would we offer him a new contract? We would be rewarding that poor attitude, plus one bad apple can spoilt the cart. I don't think Edwards has a bad attitude people are saying he does. I've seen his off the ball work improve considerably, and his general performance remain consistent. I have seen him start on the bench at the u19s Euros and come on during 2 stalemates and under pressure turn the game on his head and help them win the Euros, and not sulk for being on the bench. I have no qualms over Edwards attitude, hence I why we have offered him a contract.

This!!!

What some people fail to realise, Marcus is only 19 years old and still needs time develop both physically and mentally. Yes you have some players like Rooney who at the age of 17-18 were already playing for Man Utd and England seniors. But that doesn't mean all players develop at the same speed.

Do people believe Marcus would have been offered a substantial contract if his attitude was poor? Marcus knows exactly what is expected of him and that was explained before the contract was offered. If his attitude was crap and he was just in it for the money then he could have signed for Chelsea who offered double his wages.

Marcus believes in Spurs and Poch.

Poch loves Marcus and rates him incredibly highly but also understands it will take time for Marcus to mature in all aspects. There's zero issues or conflict. This is all simply stirred up by people on twitter who just want to see a young kid with lots of skills thrown into the deep end. Unfortunately for those people it doesn't work like that, and thankfully the coaching staff and the club know what's best for all the players.

Marcus's time will come but people have to be patient.

Great post and exactly goes along my lines of “I do think there’s a tendency nowadays for people wanting to rush players through to the first team.”

Once all aspects of Edwards game is ready he’ll get the call up everyone seems so desperate for.

Because all round we are very healthy at CB. We have 3 of the best in the PL if not the best. Dier Davies as immediate cover. Foyth who looks a class act. And Ccv to come back. Where as currently we are lacking a creative edge and some firepower, it’s the more immediate need. It will be tough for Tanganga imo to get a chance.

I know some and maybe most on here are going to disagree but here goes.
Having seen edwards a number of times and even heard the bench giving him (very loudly) demands to hurry, run, quick marcus. He just seems a little too laid back at times. Yes with the ball at his feet he can be a game changer, however, Poch seems to prioritise players who work thwir asses off for their team mates.
Dont get me wrong i would love Edwards to succeed as he diffinately has skills with the ball at his feet.
I just dont know if thats enough

this is my exact feelings why Edwards is not in the team. couldn't of written it better myself

Just pointing out that we cannot say one player is too young then go and pick a player the same age and put him on the bench.

Agree with your reasons for the CB situation but as a fan of CCV Tanganga is closing the gap between the two players,CCV is ahead because of the experience he is getting now.
