Why is it either or? In the majority of games we don’t need a dedicated holding midfielder, and both Mousa and Winks are more than defensively aware enough to play together

People are under estimating just how good Dembele is, but yes he is a player that needs to get back up to speed. He was unplayable vs Chelsea earlier in the season, a man amongst boys and by far the best player on the pitch so I’m certainly not consigning him to the scrap heap just yet

Just chucking this in to the nearest Dembele thread I could find. Kinda sad seeing a talent like this playing a level like that.

Sad in the sense that he’s too good for it, but in reality he’s a young man in the prime of his life getting to experience a new country and culture for a few years while being paid a bomb to do so. I think things like this go beyond just the money and work quality side of things, in a world where he already has everything he could need or want, he found a way to make it a bit more interesting and personally fulfilling for a while longer.

Also that by not playing so many games at a high level, he may be able to walk unaided and play with his kids, unlike some footballers whose hips, knees, etc, are completely gone by the time they retire.

Exactly wouldn’t feel sorry for him at all. Where he has gone is a beautiful city also a short flight to Hong Kong and Thailand. Sure he will have a fantastic time for a couple of years and swell his bank account.

No doubt he’s well compensated. Just a harsh reminder that it’s the end of an era as far as seeing him compete at the highest level, club wise at least. He’s the kind of player you just want to see in their pomp.

When we win the league this season will he get a winner's medal?

He should get one as he's played 10 times this season. The requirement is 5 times.

He should also get a CL medal if the club decide to give him one of the 40 they receive when we win that too.
