We were continuously told throughout the summer to be patient and that we had a plan. It was clear that we only partially pulled that plan off. I have a feeling that we may have missed out on a couple of players thanks to this strategy, which is why Llorente came in last minute.

Whilst he seemed pretty relaxed about the situation in the summer it appears that Poch has realised that we took the wrong approach and are suffering now as we lag way behind City. With City firing and United looking strong, he's realised that had he got Aurier and Llorente in sooner he would have been able to count on them from the off. I think he's putting a little pressure on Levy here, nothing too worry about too much, and I think he's earned that right.

Why can't we go to someone like Sporting CP in January and make a solid offer for Gelson Martins with the idea that he'll join us once the WC has finished. Pretty sure they'd be open to a fair offer with the knowledge that he isn't leaving immediately and they can plan around it.

I agree about Sessegnon.

In the case of martins I’ve read numerous times he has a release clause around £50m so in theory we could trigger it anytime. Whether we’d pay that and whether he sign for us is another matter, also if we did trigger it another club could too and pay him more than we can

That sounds like a go and get Barkley in Jan and not the summer plea from Poch, real frustration coupled by the injuries which has really fucked us this year...he knows that the squad is lacking.

I don’t think he’s talking about Barkley at all, I think it’s more sessengnon type signings as alli was cited as an example. Barkley’s contract is up at the end of June and iirc players in that situation are free to negotiate with domestic clubs in the last 30 days of their contract so the Barkley deal could be done in time before pre season starts which is what he’s saying he wants.

If we sign sessegnon in January and loan him back, same as the alli deal, he too would be there for the start of pre season

We won’t sign anyone non English unless we sell at least two non English players as we currently already have Lamela outside our champions league squad. Don’t understand how anyone fails to realise this.

We can name 17 non-homegrown in our squad for the league. We have 16 currently named by my reckoning with 1 of them, Janssen out on loan.

Alderweireld
Aurier
Dembele
Dier
Eriksen
Gazzaniga
Son
Janssen
Lamela
Llorente
Lloris
Nkoudou
Sissoko
Vertonghen
Vorm
Wanyama

Champions League registration can be amended before the knockout stage.

Davies is not homegrown - came from Wales. For CL, must come from England FA.

As you can see in my post, I specifically mentioned Champions League registration. Given that we already have one player, Lamela, not registered, do you really think we will sign another player who we can’t register?

Any player of the required quality would be pretty fucked off to sign and not get to play in the Champions League.

As I said, unless we sell at least two non homegrowns, we will only sign homegrowns.

In theory, we could sell any two Lamela, Nkoudou, Sissoko. In practice, only Nkoudou is likely to be seen as expendable, we’d still then have the maximum non homegrowns for CL purposes.

Links to Masina, Alba, Modric, Martins, etc are pie in the sky, ridiculous and the creation of fantasists. In our situation the only likely signings are players like Barkley, Shaw, Sessegnon, Mee, and even then given our chairman and manager’s well know attitude towards this window it’s more likely that we will do nothing until summer.

i think balde, sancho and barkley were the targets we failed to pull off, most of them were out of our control as itks stated (balde and citeh being c**ts and the injury of barkley)
aurier arrived late due to his legal issue, which is also out of our control
let's hope we can complete the deals before the next pre-season starts

It was just an example.

If I was Levy I would try to get Aubameyang(£55mil), Mahrez(£35 mil) and Richarlson(£30) and sign a pre contract with Barkley to get him for nothing in the Summer. Personally I think all these deals are possible at the right price..

I would sell/Loan Llorente and Nkoudu

These signings would massively solve our attacking/creativity firepower and give us the amazing options off the bench...

Alsp would probably guarantee us top 4 and give us an amazing chance to win the FA Cup and go close in the Champions League. We would also need to do minimal work in the summer window which will be hard because of the word cup.

I know that things are tougher for a club who don't have a bottomless pit of cash but we do seem to have plenty of excuses at the ready. One things for certain, the next two transfer windows are imperative to how successful we want to be. Scrape the barrel and bring players in late and once again we will make a stuttering start whilst the others continue to improve and will be harder to chase down. I have a lot of faith in Poch and the team but we really need to step up our efforts in bringing in these difference makers. We don't even need to do a lot in the market, we just need to bring in two players who will make a significant difference -easier said than done I guess.

Even if we did have that outlay, there's no way they would all come to us knowing that we have Kane, Alli etc. I don't even think we need both of Mahrez and Richarlison, however we do need a player in that mould.

Sessegnon, another AM (Richarlison, Malcom, Zaha, Martins, etc) and another CM (possibly Barkley) I think would give us real strength in depth. We would also have multiple options for numerous systems, this would help us overcome those stubborn teams.

its either we breed a wing wizard or we buy one to push us to the next level. if we stay stagnant the whole thing will fall apart eventually

you just gotta cum when you are at the climax. if not you are just gonna get blue balled

Did Man City say no won’t buy Jesus because they have Augero or won’t take Bernardo Sivla because thy have David Silva ??

We need another top striker to sometimes play with and sometimes instead of Kane. We need another option to Eriksen and we need a quick wide attacker to give us another dynamic.

I know Levy won’t spend the money but to be a top club those are the level of signings we need

Bernado Silva who barely makes an appearance? Why do you think they're able to have such quality players in reserve? They're only able to keep players like that happy when not playing because of the wage they pay. They can afford to have multiple top quality players in every position. It isn't so simple for us.

Need to go large for Barkley and Sessegon in January. If we can get rid of Sisokko maybe look for another

You been smoking some weird shit man. We are talking about the January window here!
We also have an issue (well its not to big an issue ) of taking a player out of CL squad to fit Lamela. I'm guessing N'Cando will be the one out. So there is no way three non English players will be coming in January.
As others have said, do a deal now with Fulham for Sess, loan back if necessary but get it done. If Barkley can be had at a reasonable price get that done and get him involved around the team and the manager. Will make it easier for him next season.
That's all i can imagine, and all we really need at this point. Vic and Toby should not be too far away each now.

Won’t say who they are, but shared names privately. 2 deals (not RB-in bag that one subject too injuries etc) are wrapped up. One from UK (well under 20 yrs old-playing first team football for 2nd year), and one under 20 from Holland. Not sure if this window, or summer.
