Ronaldo's goals paper over the cracks of his dreadful team play these days but nobody gives a shit because goals are important
Thats the whole point, Dele has fallen off doing so, so crap example of defending him

Out of form? Or did the goals just paper over the cracks. Technically it’s very hard to make a case dele is near Lamela. You could see as soon as he came on the link up with winks and eriksen was different class is just flows. For me dele makes our play disjointed. I’ve always thought if you took away his goals there’s not to much left.

If you took away alli's 39 goals in the past two season I think a dip in his form may be the least of our worries

The same bed wetters who bemoan his every breath now would be crying that we aren't in Europe

Worth pointing out he only scored 3 prem goals in his first 15 games last season. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that he's a slow starter what with him still being a kid. Last year we allowed him to play himself into form and I'm sure the same will happen this season.

Bet exactly the same stuff was being said here this time last year before he made those people look stupid.

Stats don’t lie:
Dele Alli pass completion 67.9% the lowest by miles everyone else over 80%.
Total passes 28 only Kane was lower with 19.

67.9% For AM is pretty awful by any standards.

I think people need to remember 2 things with Alli, 1) he is still very young 2) it's ok to say Alli is not playing well when he isn't.

Your stat above was what I have been thinking for a while. Alli is out of sorts which is why I would love to see him play a little deeper to get back to having space and finding his feet again

Only on SC could a ratings thread for a 5-1 victory become a bitchfest about Dele. Maybe do that in the Dele thread guys?

Only a blindman would fail to see that he has been poor this season. Only a blindman would fail to see that he is a very good player with bundles of talent. The two aren't mutually exclusive you numpties.

I'm not going to say Ali is playing well but it's easy to have high pass stats if you don't take risks. He is trying to create things and that's why he is lower. You don't expect a number 10 to have 80%+ all the time.

I'm not sure on that. I would expect 80% pass rate because he is still meant to be keeping the play flowing. The 20% pass failure should be the clever passes. Alli absolutely needs to pick out the more straight forward passes more consistently again

I’ve been harsh on him today only because I feel he needs to re assess his game imo
I'm sure once he gets in here and reads through the thread, he will appreciate your thoughtful comments on how he can improve as a person and as a player.

Was at the game, very easy MOM in Son. Clearly going through his purple patch and needs to be one of the first names on the team sheet atm. Beyond that, Lamela, so damn good seeing him back. That lofted through ball to Kane was sublime, the sooner he is 100% fit the better we will be. One of our most important attacking players regardless of him starting or being a bench player. His reading of the game is unique as is Alli’s and Eriksen’s. They all three see different things which makes each a killer on their day.

Maybe Deli tries the more ambitious pass? Over the last weeks we have lacked creativity - we shouldn't be too quick to knock a player tries a more difficult pass.

Some very nice volleyed passes from Tripper....a real trade mark.

Its a measure of how well we played that Kane barely gets a mention. Two very fine goals however.

Son was fantastic.

Thought Dembele was superb today.
Gather you werent at the match.
He is miles off the player he was - even out muscled some times today and was turning into trouble.
He needs regular game time to get back up to speed - then he will be superb

Think this speaks volumes about Kane, that I was so shocked when he missed that one on one today, immense player.

our out-of-form Alli is still only second to Kane in combined goals/assists this season despite being suspended for the first three CL games.

Maybe this thread should include future be retitled “ MOTM v ....., “ because most posts are not giving ratings, they are either giving MOTM only or slagging off Dele only.

Anyway average first half . We still didn’t move the ball quick enough for most of it, but it always looked like once we got the second it would end up in a rout. Second half therefore much better. I guess while Toby and Sanchez are both out it make sense to revert to 4 at the back .

It was a shame Nkoudou was not on the bench. This was a perfect game to give him a cameo instead of Sissoko after his improved performance in midweek.

Lloris 7 very good save at 3-0 removed any chance of a comeback. Irrelevant error for their goal.

Trippier 7 good game

Dier 8 To me he’s a central defender , much more accomplished there than in midfield.

Vertonghen 8 excellent game

Davies 7 Good but not tested

Dembele 7 Best game for some time. I think he feels more comfortable when we play 4 at the back

Winks 7 Kept the ball moving well.

Eriksen 7 Best game for some time . Took his goal well .

Dele 6 Not a huge improvement but played ok and good assist for Son

Son 8.5 Has to play , as long as he continues to look sharp keep starting with him. He generally plays better when he is a consistent starter. In their faces all the time. Should have started at Arsenal and Leicester.

Kane 7 Couple of unusual misses but 2 more goals so what is there to say ?

Lamela - looked assured and great to have him back.

Sissoko and Llorente NET

Having just seen the highlights on motd, stoke looked incredibly lazy and unfit. Diof staying back for Eriksens goal was incompetent.

Son MotM all day long, but what a difference getting an earlish goal does, it stops teams sitting deep for the whole of the 90mins

Don't think we've ever had such a landslide win. Son gets 175 votes with the rest totalling 12.
