Our player recruitment has been deeply underwhelming post getting into the CL as it’s coincided with other clubs spending the TV windfall and raising the bar and we’ve been hamstrung by Levy unwilling to pay the wages as it would mean a raise for the whole squad. Hence we sign Sissoko for £30m on £90k a week and not Mane for £130k or whatever for the same amount. We don’t sign Zaha as we deem him not worthy of a pay rise on what he’s on at Palace etc.
i dont think wages had anything to do with Zaha, either we didnt offer enough or they just wouldnt sell

Not sure what that matters tbh. Rose is still here and ATM we have two fit LB's why would he be played out of position when Davies and Rose are available for selection?

What I meant is that if he is leaving in Jan (or latest in the summer), why not rotate Davies/Rose (when one of them is injured or needs a rest) with KWP against weaker opponents.

I remember that we played Aurier as LB (can't recall who the opponents were) this season. I know that Aurier has played at LB before joining us but he, like KWP, more specialised as a RB.

I would really prefer to keep Rose but only if he wants to stay and play for us. Unfortunately that doesn't look the case.

not a left back and probably not close to being ready

Agree on the LB part (but he has experience playing there) but since he's been on the bench on several occasions this season, I'd assume that Poch thinks that he is ready, although not as a regular starter, for now anyway.

He does! We will allow ‘if’ right offer! He would of been allowed to leave end of season, but things have changed.

do you think that part of that calculus also is based on wanting to raise salaries for Toby, Kane and Alli specifically?

What a lack of self awareness. He’s brought this all on his self

Rose said after Wednesday's match that the decision to take him off was probably correct, and added that he is tired of the suggestion that he is at odds with Pochettino.

"This is getting silly now," said Rose.

"The manager said it was best I came off and I didn't want to come off. That was it.

"I've seen already that people are saying we exchanged words.

"There is no issue between me and the manager, there has never been an issue.

"And people trying to put stuff in the media is not welcomed.

But this is what happens when you go running to the media in the first place, they will do anything to fuel story lines, surely he must have been aware of that, I'm not sure what he expected.

What the hell is up with barnet at the moment? Did we sell half of it on the way to the match?

It's up to him to sleep in the bed he shat in. Hopefully he gets back to his best and contributes positively for us before we move him on.

I couldn't help but laugh (a lot) at this entry in the BBC Football Gossip column Today:

Manchester United have made Juventus' Brazil defender Alex Sandro, 26, their primary left-back target. The club had initially wanted to sign 27-year-old England international Danny Rose but have become wary of dealing with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy. (Independent)

More like they've become pissed off with getting rogered or pissed about by him! Not that you can believe much of what they put in that column.

He should google irony

I don't think he'd understand the definition of the term, just like he doesn't realize that the majority of Spurs fans had to google him when we first bought him.

EDIT: really piedpiper? Why the d'oh rating? I really did have to google him when we bought him, and I know I'm not the only one.

Why do you want Shaw? I just don't get why people want him. This would be a horrendous deal for us.
Under Poch, I really think he has alot to offer than what he is now at manure.

I think we all know the level Rose was at before he really blossomed.. And I do credit that to Poch. With Shaw, Poch could do the same, if not more, especially they had work together before.

More importantly, Rose's character is no longer a benign one in the dressing room IMVHO, with now his fiery and sometimes straighforward but negative temperament seemingly bred from his press outburst and almost 1-year of injury layoff..

Losing some speed if we sell Rose I can understand that. Unless there is another speedster of a LB/LWB that we had target, Shaw is acceptable for me from the above points.

I would see the fun in Pochettino making him good again, while Rose (if going to United) hopefully turns into a morbidly obese sulk.

I'm not sure Shaw is known as a "speedster" is he?
