I have very little exposure to him, but he seems like a second striker type, like Son when he plays off Llorente or Kane. He can play the lone striker role but his hold up play atm is weak. That's how I've interpreted him, could be wrong. Is Richards more a wide/Am martial like than an out and out striker like Griffiths?
Yeah cos that's exactly what that phrase means!
Problem is you don't actually read people's posts, instead just pluck comments out of context and start droning again. No it isn't exactly what that phrase means but neither is how it was being used by the person I quoted (responding to Windy saying "it's all about how they train"). My point being that it is an absolute truism that players are paid to turn up and train, but it's not all about how they train in relation to who plays, which how it was being used by who I quoted who I believe was suggesting kids might not be getting chances because of what's happening in training.
It has no real relevance in this thread or in the context of development football. It was used by Poch to explain why he wasn't picking a purchased player (Sissoko I believe) who we'd paid big money for. Youth wages are never going to influence any selection decision are they ? But there will always be questions about whether players get picked (like Sissoko) because of what we paid and the wages they are being paid, whether it is a factor or not - and I appreciate in Poch's case it may not be.

think that Trippier screwed things up a bit for KWP....if he had started the season as he ended it, we may have not gone in for Aurier....ultimately think that Trippier and KWP are here to staythe problem with kwp though is that he needs one of the right backs to go and as it stands it's difficult to imagine trippier or aurier not being here next season at least.
No way to early for any of them and there is no need to.do any of these young lads, eg Richards or JDL look like they can be fast tracked?
Man, he was injured for the last two months, and never got many starts in the league to begin with. He is on a different planet than the player he was this time last year, complete different planet. The early part of the season winks was still coming back from injury, having only played twenty minutes in pre-season, and actually was far from impressive at the start of the season.Nobody wants academy players thrown in for the sake of it. Nobody wants academy players in there to boost some kind of quota.
Winks was pretty damn good when he was played early part of last season (you may remember him playing well and scoring the winner against West Ham and then playing 90 minutes in a win against Burnley in Dec) then didn't get another PL start for 4 months. And the early part of this season we were watching us struggle for tempo and vim against teams like Burnley with plodders like Dembele and Dier out there while Winks fidgeted on the bench.
One man's "Winks has been quietly sensational because Poch didn't play him" is another mans "we could have been having 4 extra months last season and a few more games this season of quiet and sensational".
KWP is already a regular member of our match day bench. I will be amazed if he gets much first team starts this year because we went and bought a 25m international who's only 3 years older and are probably paying him about 1000% more than we ae paying KWP.
Just out of interest, if Poch is 2nd best, who is the best manager in your lifetime? Thanks @nicdicHe's the best manager we've had in my lifetime (or second best if not the best) and I think he's absolutely great.

He definitely doesn't look 60+, noI don't think @WindyCOYS is that old, but could be wrong.
The solace I am taking from the current situation is that I feel (no justification for this whatsoever) that Poch is doing with KWP (and TOB) what he did with Winks a couple of seasons ago. If you'll recall we all were saying Winks was stagnating as he was training with the first team, travelling to games but was playing little to no football in terms of matches. No U23 involvement and no appearances off the bench.
As it turns out the process has worked really well, as when Poch did send him on he had full confidence in him, and it didn't matter who we were playing, if Poch felt we needed his attributes he went on, it wasn't just against easy teams or coming on at 3-0. Last year he obviously had a lot of involvement off the bench, and this year it is clear that he is a key member of the first team squad.
I think (hope) that this is what is being done with KWP and TOB atm, heavy first team involvement in terms of training and travelling, with a view to sub appearances and a few starts next season. I actually think we would have seen a lot more of Onomah this season had he stayed, as he'd just come off the season of integration and this year was his time to get some more game time.
I don't know, am i just being naively hopeful?
