Sonny is a much more lethal finisher. I've gone off the idea of Zaha now, think we should be looking to bring in someone who can become better.
I really don’t think we could sign a player of Zaha’s pace, skill and power who doesn’t have his shortcomings. He’s very unique, and showing signs of developing as a player, goodness knows what he could achieve under Poch’s wing.

18 months ago, a lot of people were saying that Sterling was just a quick player who had no end product and look what Pep has done with him.

It's all well and good wanting Zaha in January but it would take a monumental bid to take him anyway after he signed a new contract and with Palace facing a relegation battle.

I would like him, but I'm unsure of the likelihood of actually doing so.

Poch could probably tune him into a beast of a player in some respects but at the same time I don't really see him being prolific. I
Are you saying Zaha can’t improve? FYI Poch rates him very highly.
I'm not necessarily saying that. Just perhaps we may find someone who can reach Alli and Kanes level.

He doesn’t need to be prolific as long as he opens up space, and learns how to play some final balls to Kane.

I wasn’t aware of that and find that hard to believe. I do know Poch sees Zaha as one of the best wingers in the league.

That's interesting, we don't really play with wingers, but I do see that sometimes we need to, to widen the field with these stubborn defences we've had trouble with this season. Zaha certainly causes panic, and he's pretty useful centrally too, and English (for quota). He gives us a nice couple of options, and an extra bit of pace along with Son.. I'd be up for signing him, he'd be expensive though.. Very expensive, I'd imagine.

Zaha would immediately improve 20% purely from playing next to Eriksen and behind Kane

Add in the poch factor and who knows.

He'd be a great gkn replacement. We may still need another creator in the squad though, depending on what happens with Lamelas progress/reintegration

im not particularly bothered if we get Zaha or not, but I rate Richarlson much higher.

There is serious Interest in both, both valued very highly by their clubs though so cost is an issue. We are definitely looking to strengthen in January but unfortunately cost will be a factor to whether or not anyone comes in. We won't buy players for the sake of it, so if the ones we want are not obtainable in Jan we will wait until the Summer, even if players leave. I am fully aware this is not good news, but it's how I'm hearing things stand.

Correct Trix. Zaha has a set clause in his contract from what I hear. I do not know what that clause is. Poch won’t give up on him, and my own personal opinion, is if we matched that clause, woujd Zaha come now? Not sure if he would join in summer, as Poch wants all his eggs agreed, or purchased now. If not water-tight for the summer. I am not aware if we can have such deals with EPL player, unless a loan back deal.

I see the paper rumours of Jann-Fiete Arp wont go away. Now would be the time to get him and maybe a season loanback?

Surely the Zaha boat has now sailed?

Cost and wages would be prohibitive wouldnt they. The time to get him was 2 summer's ago when we offered a lowball bid and then bought Sissoko for double what we offered for Zaha 2/3 weeks later.

This summer it was rumoured we offered him low wages and also that he dithered about signing for us. If we really want him then we are going a strange way about getting him.

I can't see us going back in for Zaha.

We need to focus on 3 signings
i) Eriksen backup/upgrade - Eriksen's fitness/form has affected us in November. We need to have options in addition to Lamela. Barkley is the one. If he is not coming, we need to get someone similar.

ii) Rose replacement - IMO, its going to be matter of when he leaves than if. Even if goes in summer, we need to buy a LB. IMO, buy Sessegnon in Jan & loan him back to Fulham till summer. Next season - Davies & Sessegnon duo will do for me.

iii) A striker - Llorente still has to get his PL game going. I would actively look for a striker option. WBA are shit but if Jay Rodriguez is available for reasonable fee, would go for him. He could play alongside Kane or by himself leading the line. Poch got the best of him in past as well. If not, may be a young European Striker with potential.
