tbh I'm just bitter at how successful teams are at parking the bus against us this season

Most teams have difficulty with it, our problem is we don't seem to get an early goal against the tactic. Once you get the early goal the game opened up. If you batter a team for the first 15mins get a goal the game is much more open.

We played okayish tonight, however, we really need to up our game against Citeh come Saturday.

City are going to embarrass us on Saturday. Our makeshift defence has no pace whatsoever and we seem to be fumbling around a lot in midfield and up top, it's not gonna be pretty, but hey ho, we've got 6pts from the last two games.

We've seen so many promoted teams "trying to play football" and I don't think any have been successful.
Swansea, and Bournemouth to an extent, are the only recent teams to consolidate their PL status "trying to play football". But far more have started well only to go back down.

I am very HAPPy to simply take the THREE points today.
I have the fear for the coming weekend.
We're running at about 70% at the moment. Citeh at 110%.
MoPo's tactics will be everything.

I was at the game, though we played fine other than the 60th-80th minute. We created enough chances to have scored more despite the fact that Brighton were very well organised and didn't try to do much.

I was particularly impressed with Lamela who looked much faster and fitter than pre-injury and always looked to play the ball forward and make things happen.

Kane was poor.

I don't think this performance will have any baring on how we do against City.

We are back in the top 4 after a poor recent set of performances.

I agree, we see Swansea now in complete tatters and Bournmouth while a little more stable they haven't kicked on, sadly to play that type of football you need technically good players and they are quite hard to find on budget.

Yeah obviously it's a different match, different intensity, different tactics etc City aren't gonna sit back and like Real they will leave spaces for us to counter...I personally think that we're the best equipped team to play them in the league so for me it's not as cut and dry as you make out.

Winks needs to be a bit more ambitious in his passing. He needs to find the balance of when to keep us ticking over and when to try and be a bit forward thinking. Otherwise he will end up like Leon Britton, tidy player but not the top level that we all hope he will be.

But we'll let them have the ball, and we'll sit deep and stay compact.

They have the quality to open us up no doubt, but we also have the quality to hurt them on the counter.

The key is can we defend well enough to win the ball back enough, and effectively counter them?

Man City will be the telltale sign if we are up for this top 4 challenge. There was little urgency out there and the body language for the most part was lackluster IMO. Lots of jogging and slow thought processes.

Man City will be up for the game as they have been up for every game of theirs no matter minnows or giants. Sure their quality in the attacking third is of higher quality in some places, but it all comes down to belief which is instilled at the top. Pep has them walking around like they are untouchable where we seem almost uncertain of our worth.

Basically, our confidence and style has faded dramatically over the course of the summer. We have seen glimpses this season, but for the most part there just seems to be this fog hanging over us. We turned the corner just to reverse.

Confident Poch will get them playing the fun loving game we were last year, but there is a lot of work to be done by the men out there on the pitch.

I really think we are missing a true DM at the moment. With Toby, Wanyama and Sanchez all out, we are playing Winks as a DM instead of box to box. Having either Dier or Wanyama at DM really frees up the other mids to play more freely. Getting these guys back may seem to make us more defensive but in reality it allows our mids to really attack knowing that there is cover. I am OK grinding out wins with the team we have available and feel we can make the push back up the table once we start to get healthy.

I appreciate this is the B&HA match thread but as you and others are talking about the City game I would love to take this opportunity to hope for a draw all day long. And dream of a win.

Pre-game I said I will settle for a scrappy win today...Thats exactly what we got today. In a game where Brighton didnt want to come out & play I will take a scrappy 2-0 win every week.

All that matters is weekend game against City.

We're the best equipped with a fully fit squad and all our defenders available. Otherwise it might be too much of an ask imo.
