Made hard work of it but job finally done, next!! Oh fuck its City :(

In the absence of a clear MOTM I am going to give it the first goal scorer Serge

MOTM goes to Lamela.

Did very well for his first start in 14 months, especially in the 1st half.

Poor match where they stopped us creating quite comfortably.

Winks had his worst performance, his passing was risk averse and sideways to the nearest man almost exclusively, and that is not what we want or need from him, he is their to provide the opposite, he also seemed to lose confidence as the game went on (groans didn't help) I am putting it down to one of those nights for him, as it's the exception in all his performances. (and he's playing next to Sissoko which can't be easy :p)

Conversely Lamela coming in for his first start since the 1920's was always on the move looking forward and moving the ball quicker than everyone else, with this will naturally come passes that are too quick but for a first start I'll give him MoTM.

We were really poor in midfield. Winks worst game for us by some margin, doing a Ray Wilkins impersonation for the night. Movement and overall quality of passing was poor. Kane still doesn’t look fully fit. Don’t think anyone deserves MOTM.

As has been mentioned, Winks looked like Dier in the midfield there. I feel like he got the instruction to play it safe when he should have been taking the chances to split the levels. But credit goes to the compact lines Brighton set up with cause when he did try, the pass was picked off. There were multiple times where he wanted to make a pass, but the players in between the lines were just standing there like a lump of cement.

That is what is separating us from last years team as well as the teams that are banging in goals. We are far too stagnant and not making creative, decisive runs. Hard to make a pass when no one is working the lines. Will be fun to watch City against us as they are currently running rampant.

MOTM goes to Son IMO. He is again the only attacking player that is trying to attack the opposition with the ball at his feet. He also looks to work the give and go which is the simplest play in the book, but we seldom attempt it.

Great to see Lamela get the trot out and thought he performed very well in the first half. He has been in the box much more in these previous three games than he ever was in his first couple seasons with us. Been very close to getting his first goal the past couple.

Winks was poor but I cringed at the mass groans when he misplaced a pass just before he was subbed. Proper old school 90’s groans. I’m sure that did our 21 yr old potentially-next-superstar-and-actual-born-yiddo the world of good.

Lamela for me. Followed by Aurier.

Yeah wasn't great to hear, but that moment was a culmination of his poor night, one of the rare occasions he had space open in front of him to turn and run into or pass progressively and he was totally unaware of what was around him, and just knocked it backwards I must admit I reacted to that with frustration (but was not at the game so I get a bye ;) )

Lamela is good but I am not quite sure he is the MOTM. You can expect he will perform even better in future

I think Aurier is the best player today, though he is surprisingly beaten by March for many times. He is way more threatening than Rose, who seemingly loses his crossing and decision making ability

Dier's diagonal balls are too painful to watch. You are not pirlo

Winks had a relatively bad match today. Maybe he is really tired

Sissoko is such an amazing player. His performance is entirely unaffected by the team performance. Win or lose, his match ratings are always somewhere between 5.5 - 6.5.

My motm was Dier cut out most of danger and defended proactively, generally solid in possession while whipping in one really good cross. Overall we looked like we were just conserving ourselves for the weekend. Proud of the lads of getting the job done.

Anyone booing Winks for that deserves a ban for life. Morons.
and the same fans throw a fit when the likes of Rose and Walker angle to leave. when they dont show any loyalty to the lads in the first place.players dont forget.

Was he actually booed?:(
there was a moment were he recieved the ball on the half turn with space in front of him and instead of driving forward he went backwards to one of the centerhalfs. Their was a loud negative reaction and to me the fans unnecessarily jumped on top of him, given the circumstances of trying to see out a tricky mid week game, before the man city game.

Wow the atmosphere was shit today, the exodus begun before Sons goal, fair enough it's midweek but that early?

A good result against a poor team who set out to stop us and did that well. Lamela was a breath of fresh air, Kane is tired, worst Winks game for a while but to be expected. Sissoko is so frustrating, I must be missing something, how is he a premier league footballer?

We are really missing that ferocity in the turnovers that was so epic last year. Son MOM.
