God, I wish Toby and Big Vic were fit. Or Sanchez didnt royally fuck up. Could have used a DM here:mad:

Aurier and Rose simply have to start due to City’s pace even if we go 4231 and Dele or Lamela start in AM.

Give up position let them have it on the break, I just want to hear Pep say we aren't worthy cause we park the bus. I actually hope he runs onto the pitch and tries to confront Dier, fucking KO.

Really not excited about trippier and davies starting this one. You'd assume that dembele and winks are starting in midfield given sissoko played the full 90 today. Would like to see lamela start again and get at the spaces. Same attack as today imo.
Tripp was fantastic Vs Real at the lane.I think he has earned a start here

Such a shame that Sanchez and Alderweireld are not available for this one as it would be a fantastic game if both sides at full strength!

I think Poch's selection against Brighton has shown his hand a little ... I am expecting this team.

Trippier, Davies, Dele, Dembele all to come into the starting line up.

Lloris
Trippier Dier Vertonghen Davies
Dembele Winks
Dele Eriksen Son
Kane

Subs: Vorm, Rose, Aurier, Hoyth, Sissoko, Lamela, Llorente
As Poch has shown with a 4-2-3-1 and a high press against Man CIty, they are beatable, so I'd like to see Lamela included to the team to give us that extra pressing aggression

After last night could see 3-5-2
Dier vertonghen Davies
Trips dele dembele eriksen Rose
Son Kane

That team also gives us x7 6ft players with city likely to have two.

I think Poch will rotate his full backs again but simply due to the speed they have out wide I would want us to play Aurier and Rose. Sane and Sterling are rapid and we therefore need pace and strength to counter it. Trips and Davies could get crucified.

Dembele comes back in to be the power in CM. Winks will start, he's proven himself in bigger games than this and will be able to get back to his usual game, unlike last night.

Alli also loves a big game so I'd be happy to bring him back in for this one and think Poch will do that. Everyone else picks themselves really.

Hugo
Aurier Dier Verts Rose
Dembele Winks
Alli Eriksen Son
Kane

What I think Poch will do:

Hugo
Trips Dier Verts Davies
Winks Dembele Alli
Eriksen Kane Son

This. If we can make the most of his intelligent movement (i.e. if Eriksen's got his passing boots on), we should be in with a decent chance of exposing their meathead defence. He'll also get in their faces for good value too.

Why does anyone either, A) think that Aurier and Rose would play on Saturday, and B) believe they are better options right now to Trippier and Davies?

Is it just because they are a bit fast?

I have pretty low expectations going into this one but that's more down to City's dominance than our form. That said we have been at our best in the bigger games this season because they are inevitably more open so I see no reason why we can't get something from it.

Expecting a slim defeat but hoping we can cause an upset and pinch a slim victory. Would be happy with another 2-2 draw.

I know why you're saying this but let's face it, in a foot race, Aurier and Rose are gonna be more likely keep up with Sane and Sterling than what Trips and Davies could.

That's not necessarily a reason to start them but it's a factor that should be considered in my humble opinion.

Probably also both more likely to switch off, not track a run, run the ball out of play, mis-control it, etc. etc.

There's not even a competition at the moment for the top dogs in those positions. It's very comfortably Trips and Davies, regardless of pace.

Aurier would also be very likely to get sent off trying to handle Sane.

Still think these are beatable. If Southampton Huddersfield West Ham had a more potent goal threat they’d have at least drawn.Really fancy Kane Son to bag a couple especially if kompany is out.

Maybe but if we're honest, all 4 of them are flawed in some way. Trippier isn't getting any faster or much stronger and he also doesn't tend to go past his man or even try to. Aurier is a bit raw from a footballing perspective but he has all the other attributes to be the better right back and with Poch's coaching he can become as good on the footballing side, if a bit different, e.g. he'll unlikey ever cross as well as Trippier.

Rose was clearly the better LB over Davies but his injury has knocked him back significantly. Davies has also improved massively but he will always lack agility and speed and that is important both in our system and against speedy wingers like Sterling and Sane.

I fully agree that Trippier and Davies are the number 1's right now but it wasn't that long ago that they were both the backups and Poch has proven he can coach players up.

I believe Aurier and Rose are the better fit for this particular game but Poch knows far more than I do so whatever picks will most likely be correct.
