Last time I checked Zaha was only behind Hazard in successful 'take-ons' and also the most fouled player in the league. I think that gives you a taste of what he does, he beats players.

Just above Adama Traore. Needs to be a product after the take on.

Half the people Traore beats are up in the stand when he runs off the end of the pitch.

He’s woeful, reminds me of when Darren Campbell tried playing football... blistering pace but acts as if the ball is something he’s never seen before. I’ve seen him break free on 3 occasions recently for Boro where he’s had 2-3 players free in acres of space, and they were outnumbering the defence. 1st time he fell over the ball, 2nd time he shot from 35 yards and caressed the corner flag, 3rd time with 2 players either side of him one on one with the keeper, he passed the ball straight to the opposition keeper lol

I understand the wanting of Zaha. I too am in this camp.

Now, I know I can be a lazy fecker at times (the missus tells me so and she's never wrong) so I haven't researched the chances created / big chances or whatever it is being called this week.

Point being it appears some, myself included are calling for pace, hence the admiring glances toward Zaha.

Did we not have Townsend?, was he not pacy and could play of either foot?. Why did we let him go last summer if we feel pace is so important now?.

Now, without answering my own question I know Townsend was pretty dire in the shooting and decision making elements of his game, but he was direct and rapid.

A quick look and I see Zaha in 125 Prem games has assisted 16 goals and scored 20.

Townsend in 128 Prem games has assisted 12 goals and scored 16.

What's the big difference then, is it purely based on chances created by Zaha that makes him so far more superior to some?, is it because he plays for Palace and some think he'll improve immensely under Poch?.

I recall many happy for Townsend to leave, but are we maybe pursuing another pacy type with a not too disimilar end product?.

Like I said, I'm all for Zaha, but I'm still not 100% sold, not even sure why I want him. Am I blinded by the tricks and flicks, looks great, but means sweet FA if no end product.

Maybe somebody could search for chances created as a comparison for the pair of them regarding Prem games only. Does Zaha win this hands down? .

I think Poch wants pace with a brain, I'm not sure Zaha fits that profile.

why are people so fascinated with swapping Rose for one of united's underachieving overpaid flops, it's embarassing.
Because Mourinho has a proven track record of not fancying certain kinds of players who don’t buy into his “dogs of war” ethos bullshit. See exhibit A - Kevin De Bruyne.

You telling me that United's hiding away another de Bruyne then I'd say let's snap him up asap. But I'm sorry to tell you mate Mkhitaryan and Shaw arent and never will be at that level. And now both of them are fucked up mentality beyond the point of being able to compete in the English game. KDB needed to prove himself on the continent afterwards to show he can play at a top English club.

I’ve got to disagree. We won’t sign Mkhitaryan because of his age and wages but he was one of the best 10s while at Dortmund. I’d be very surprised if he was playing under Poch or Klopp that he wouldn’t be a star in England. Mourinho loves huge athletes, doesn’t understand ball players at all. KDB is just the most extreme example of this. Salah is another. Quite frankly at this point I think it is a badge of honour and a recommendation to purchase if Mourinho doesn’t fancy a player. I’m just surprised Mourinho isn’t trying to buy Sissoko from us, he would fit perfectly with Moirinho’s player purchasing brief - big, athletic, fast and not a footballer, the midfielder equivalent of Lukaku.

Think the Armenian has something in him. The overweight LB not so much.

Mkhitaryan is a good little player, but he isnt a de Bruyne and isnt worth the swap. That's all I meant. Since Fergie retired United's been a graveyard for those types and they dont always recover espeacially if they are past 25. Look at Kagawa, he's just not the same player he was the first time he was at Dortmund.

Young players have a chance to rebuild their careers, but their isnt that sort of player worth the risk. Angel Gomes at a stretch might be worth looking at one day, but he just resigned for United and isnt at the point in his career were he would start actively looking for game time.

I’m not saying either are as good as KBD, but Mkhitaryan is a hell of
a lot better than Jose is getting out him. In many ways he’d be the ideal Eriksen rotation option. Very similar style players, and he’s used to pressing having played under Klopp.
