I know this sounds like a strange question... But, I'd imagine that if there are any concerns at all, it wouldn't come from a boardroom level. In short... not a revenue issue.

But there could be a player/team chemistry issue that Poch has his own considerable reservations about. If I were him, I'd be very concerned on how he would integrate with the team, and what impact that would have on their relationships. For example, Harry loves the club, and I think takes great pride in being the face of the team. But with the arrival of Bale, that could negatively impact his self-perceived role. Same could be said about Alli.
As for Poch - the success of his team is contingent on how they flow together as a cohesive unit, representing his training and tactics. Introducing a wild card into the mix such as Bale, could be highly disruptive. Is he a team player? Would he commit to the press? Would he defer to Harry? These are all understandable concerns that can't be determined unless you experience it first hand. Which in turn, makes it a very, very expensive risk. I'm sure it would have to come down to a conversation between the player and the coach. And in turn, conversations between the coach and his key players. If all were in alignment and excited about his vision for how they'd play together... great. But if there was the slightest hint of reservation from any of them... I'd expect we'd end our interest.
I don't think Kane is the type of person who would be uncomfortable sharing the lime light. I don't think he dislikes it, rather he sees it as part and parcel of his job rather than him trying to establish a brand.

Assuming he was fit. We don't exactly have an exemplary record with injuries lately.

Are you sure that's not Anderton's injury sheet?

We thought Waddle was finished too, he went Wednesday and got Player of the Year.
Bale might miss many games, but he's the kind of player that push us over that title winner line.
If the finances is doable I think it will be worth it. I'd bring up academy boys for a couple of years to compensate if needed.

Levy has repeatedly said that we are not in a position to take a huge financial risk on a player who may or may not work out with little sell on value. I’d wager he’s far more likely to spend a huge fee on a 21 year old with plenty of time to mound and pay dividends. I don’t think Levy is afraid to spend a high fee, he just only wants to do so with risk mitigated as much as possible.

That's a key point. What does brand Bale bring to the table is something which needs factoring in as well when assessing that risk though. He's a marque signing and what doors will that open sponsorship wise at this, the most crucial time to pump club reputation with naming rights deals being sorted. It's not quite as simple as he's expensive and old and therefore a greater financial risk than younger, less well known players is the point I'm trying to make... And it's not just as simple as how many more tickets / shirts will he sell either.

I’d love nothing more than us to somehow bring Bale back, I just don’t see it.

If we bring Bale back AND if he stays fit AND if we keep all of our key players in the first season of our brand new stadium then we will win the league, no doubt in my mind whatsoever.

That’s a lot of If’s though.

As if we are going to buy Bale, don’t do it to yourselves! There’s no precedent for Levy acting like that..

It is one thing if money spent on Bale is pretty much all of our transfer budget. It is another thing if we can strengthen and freshen up the squad and buy Bale. Ignoring the clichés and agendas, is there any possibility it could be the latter?

There is one factor that I haven't seen mentioned. It was recently revealed that Daniel Levy had been particularly frugal (no jokes, please) at the behest of the banks, due to the stadium build. And it was hinted that that might no longer the case. Whatever anyone thinks of him, Levy is no mug. He knows that the best way of making the stadium a success - and therefore justifying the outlay for it - is a winning team. What if we have more to spend than just the Bale fee? And what if we could add to that money from sales of deadwood/Danny Rose?

What if we could get Bale, plus his experience, big match winning know how, revenue generating potential and the message of ambition to the rest of the squad, minus the obvious risks, especially lengthy injuries. But add to that, say, Ross Barclay (for less than the £20 million being touted in January, or next to nothing in the summer), plus Sessagnon, plus (say) Zaha, maybe a young lad of potential (I dunno, say this Arp lad), and returning loans/promotions from yoot.

Would folk think it was worth it then?

even disregarding the injuries, bale isn't anything like the player we sold. he doesn't do a whole lot of that running past everyone and smashing one in from 30 yards thing anymore. he spends most of the game drifting around doing little lay-offs and making runs into the box looking for headers. i get why most would want to see him come back but i think the reality that he's not the same player that left would soon hit them.

Revenue.

Bale would pay for himself with just the realised revenue. Names like his bring their own following, media attention, global interest, sponsorship, you name it.

New stadium looking for sponsors? Get one of the biggest, most marketable faces in Football and watch them line up.
I take your point but I seriously think you're overstating Bale's commercial appeal.

There will be a welcoming street party for him on Wembley way. Jelly and ice cream. @tiger666 is just being negative and is partly the reason we never got Ronaldinho.

Genuine question: How much of that is down to instructions - who knows, maybe to build the team around/placate because he's a petulant twat,plastic-face Ronaldo? I haven't seen much of him lately, particularly for Wales. Is his game this way now in internationals, too?

I don't understand why this thread is still a thing. Surely 300k per week means this will never happen. If he does leave i'm pretty sure he'll end up at Man U or PSG or whoever can afford his wages

I know now everyone will try and rationalise why it COULD happen. But i've been on this forum through people trying to convince me why signing Fernando Torres COULD happen. David Villa COULD happen. Samuel Etoo COULD happen. Wesley Sjneider COULD happen. So i'll trust my own logic rather than those of overly optimistic fans.

Because there was some ITK a few pages back (of whatever credibility and pinch of salt and all) saying Bale wants to come back to the Lane, and is willing to take a pay cut in order to do this.
