We won't overtake Man Utd, they've been playing without Pogba and are picking up points, Chelsea maybe but that's a stretch, we need them to have a poor of form just like we had but it will be difficult, think we're battling for 4th tbh.

On route for 65 points at the moment. We really need to start stringing some wins together now to bring that points average up quite a bit. Other teams slip up every now and then, but thus far this season, we've been doing it the most.

Hopefully performance levels will pick up now, like they have tended to do in the last two seasons.

Yes, I think we are currently the outsider in the race for 4th( and that's excluding Burnley who could be about to do a 'mini leicester'). A lot may depend on progress in Europe for us, Liverpool and Arsenal - the team(s) who go furthest may suffer in the league around Easter time- they usually do.

We are going in to a weekend where we can make up points again.

Arse v pool
everton v chelsea
Leicester v utd
burnley v spurs
City v bournemouth

No easy games for anyone except city.

As said I think this will fluctuate 4-6th over rest of season. Will prob go up to 4th back to 6 th a few times. Bit like musical chairs.Just have to hope we are 4th or better when the music stops.

If we're not careful, we'll fall a bit too far behind Liverpool in 4th - they've had some inexplicably sticky games and then swat teams aside. We're generally labouring, and Arsenal's revival seems to be stuttering a bit too. I'd be worried that United, Chelsea and Liverpool string results together before we get any type of run going. The sooner we start, the better, and away to Burnely is a really great test of our credentials after being battered by City. I hope we turn up and really change the narrative about where our season is headed.

Agreed. I think a few people on here are being very blasé about our chances of catching Liverpool- they look pretty good at the moment and as I said before, lose to Burnley and things are looking very sticky. Anyone who thinks we can just turn up at Turf Moor and get three points has obviously not been watching us much this season.
My feeling is we're in competition with Arsenal for 5th, but a hard fought win on Saturday plus a draw between arsenal and Liverpool would improve our situation no end.

I cant see getting anywhere near 4th on what ive seen watched so far.
The problem with the team is that we cant rotate anywhere like other sides can given the injuries we have had.

Getting nowhere near 4th? We were fourth before Saturday evening.

Honestly some of the reactions in here are exteme. Yes it's tougher this year for a number of reasons but let's see where we are after the festive period.

I'm confident we'll be in the mix right until the end of the season and think fourth is completely realistic on what ive seen so far.

We were well beaten on Saturday against the best team in the league. If we fail to bounce back in the next few games then we have cause for concern.

If anything I think it does us a slight favour, having that rest after Boxing Day could be pretty useful to us.

I think so too. Any extra time to get Wanyama fit is a massive bonus. Hopefully he will be able to get back up to match fitness pretty quickly too.

I think West Ham postponement benefits us for Swansea and West Ham game. We have a week break for Swansea they have 3 days. And I imagine will prioritise the home game before a visit to Wembley. West Ham is now 48 hours break for both of us. They have quite a few injuries an aging team and smaller squad so I think it gives us an advantage there.

We are still in it, if we are honest then we expected a turbulent season....

Onwards and upwards.

Obviously it's not all doom and gloom as we are capable of achieving fourth spot which is our most realistic spot in that group to get imo.
However apart from the Liverpool game I have yet to see us play anywhere near what we can do being off the pace this term, and so the heart says 4th but my head says 6th with goons in 5th spot.

We have just lost ground to the top 4 teams, manure won and bindippers are 4 up. We are in danger of losing focus and becoming a maybe team. If I remember correctly the 11 players on that pitch yesterday were part and parcel of the team that came 2nd last year. They haven't all lost that touch of class. They were like zombies yesterday. The heart seems to have gone out of their game. What is the answer?

the spine has been missing Toby and Victor

Everton only 6 points behind us and 9 off the top 4. Didn't see that being the case at the end of October.

As disappointing as some of the recent performances have been we are still only 2 points down compared to the same stage as last season, one of arsenal or Liverpool are guaranteed to drop points this weekend so beat Burnley we are back up 2 places at worst.

I think all things considered we aren’t doing that bad with Wembley, key injuries etc and that Man City running away with it is making things look worse than they are

think your find we are 5pts worse off compared to after 18 games last season. after 18 games last season we had 36pts

I said at the start of this season we would likely finish 7th because of Wembley and I still think that now.

We could pull a rabbit out of the hat in the CL and go all the way but it's doubtful.

Truth be told I have had some time to think about everything and I genuinely think Poch is having trouble motivating the group, I think for the big games in the CL like Madrid it was easy to get them going, that kind of game is enough to motivate any player but in the league, when the players know it is already gone, he has struggled, I actually think it is also having an impact on him, I think at times even he is struggling to get motivated, maybe he is seeing the players not responding and it is disheartening?

There are numerous reasons why that might be the case but the lack of pressing and effort compared to other seasons is more than evident and he has spoken to the players about us starting games slow and it doesn't seem to have had an impact on any of them, if anything it has worsened.

I think the bulk of our problem right now is the fact we have key players injured and also because, like it or not, a few of our players may have their heads out of the door or possibly even thinking about the world cup now that they know the PL is basically impossible.

I fully expect us to perform well in the CL, maybe even reach the quarters, have a half decent run in the FA Cup and finish 6th/7th in the league, nothing really is suggesting otherwise right now.

We need to have a huge upswing in form and the only way that can happen is if Poch motivates them and whilst I think he is capable as a man of doing such a thing, I just think, for some of them, nothing will change their minds or get then going, especially if they already have one foot out of the door and they no longer believe in the "project"

My verdict is, it will be a tough season and whilst we shouldn't give up hope, we should most certainly be aware that their may be more problems than just bad form right now.

The main thing we need to do, regardless of what happens is stick with Poch, this man had proven he is capable, been the best manager I have seen in my lifetime and I think once we win one trophy under his guidance we will be unstoppable.

He isn't perfect, nobody is, but it pisses me off when people sit the entire blame at his feet, if we had a team full of players with the same attitude as Poch mentally then we would have likely already won a trophy, instead we have a few of them who, for whatever reason, think it's ok to give less than 100% when they step into a spurs shirt.

Well, it isnt ok, if I was going to criticise Poch for one single thing this season it would be that he has stuck with players that quite frankly should have been dropped weeks ago, he needs to go back to basics and do what he does best, bring in players that are motivated, youth players that will leave it all on the pitch and show a few of the comfortable first teamers that they should never think it's a given they will be selected.

Just a few thoughts, I am probably wrong about everything lol.

Not surprising really in the last 4-6 weeks look how many games we have lost poor form, they on the other hand have had an injection of motivation which has got them moving forward again.

Apart from a couple of games, the whole season so far is a cause for concern!
