It's of course hard to slate a player like Kane - particularly after such a game - but he must start to pass more to better placed players. Yes, Kane, IMO, has taken the step up to become a world class CF this season. It's as if he's added an pace to his game and his close control and dribbling skills have become top-notch.
But he would add more to his game, and Spurs, if he would pass the ball more to better places players more often. When I say better placed I mean in cases where players would be clean through or almost clean through if he only passed the ball to them. And it happens in almost every game. Even if he is the best finisher at Spurs, and one of the best in the world right now, wasting opportunities to pass to much better team mates (unless it's Sissoko ) is not justified; and it can create a toxic enviornment (although I presume Kane has so much respect among his team mates that it won't).

Problem is kane relys on instinct. He doesn't think before shooting he has said he just does it. This means he takes shots quicker with less time for the opposition to react. If he stops to look around and think is someone in a better position i think overall we would miss out on the amount of goals we get.
He can still improve though.

I used to always think that I might not see a better player than Bale play for us but Kane is something else. Best striker in the world but for me also one of the best player in the world

Didn't he do that twice today when he played in Sissoko and Eriksen?

Don't know about him yet. He's been good this calendar year for the Kane Team (wasn't that good in August, though), but now he must follow up this calendar year with a good calendar year next year, too. That's REALLY the hard thing to do and will show if he's worth anything.

Any one of you not rating Kane as one of the very best players in the world? You need to have a word with yourself. Best player I've seen at our club. Hoddle, Bale, Modric be damned, you need to pause and think about what you're witnessing. In years to come you'll be asked about him, like we ask about Greaves. Think about the answer you'll give to your grandkids. If the best you can do is "I posted a lot in match threads that he should pass more".. well, then you deserve all the ridicule coming your way. Pause.. and think about what you are witnessing.

You are on the button.

My wife knows full well that she is my number two after Harry. It’s not ever been mentioned but she knows

Love him to but he's got a long way to go to match greaves.

That’s who I immediately thought of when I read what was written above. Greaves, Mackay, Blanchflower etc
The glory boys of the 60’s. These are our best ever players, also our greatest too.

If Harry keeps it up, he’ll be mentioned alongside them. He’s an incredible footballer with a work rate and desire to improve I’ve only seen in Ronaldo. He’s a credit to the game and for me, the perfect role model for young players. He’s all substance.
If England had another 3/4 with his attitude and desire, they’d win the World Cup next year

Show him the money again in January, Daniel, please.

Do whatever it takes - keep him here forever.

Not sure how long you’ve been going to the Lane so it’s difficult to fully judge your comments but in my opinion, while Kane is absolutely amazing, I’m not sure he’s the best player I’ve seen at the club (been actively going since 1980). Best striker possibly (though Jimmy Greaves and Andy Booth will have something to say about that), but best player I’m not so sure. Hoddle, Gazza and Bale for instance were not strikers so will never get quite as much glory in games as the people they provide, but were absolutely majestic in what they did (particularly Hoddle). The oldies amongst us will talk about Greaves, Blanchflower, Jones, White, Mackay etc and then fall asleep and piss themselves.

But 100% agree that Kane is definitely one of the best players in the world at the moment. On an all time Spurs great players list though, it’s still Hoddle for me because he was absolutely unique and was the first footballer to give me a tacky tip without actually having to touch it.

HARRY KANE STATS *KLAXON*

  • He has now equalled Alan Shearer's record of 36 goals in a calendar year, and still has one game left at home to Southampton to move clear of him.

  • Even if he doesn't, Kane's record is superior as Shearer scored 36 in 42 games whereas Kane has got there in only 35 games.

  • From March 1995 to January 2003, there were a combined total of seven hat-tricks from all Spurs players in just under eight years. Kane alone has scored seven in a single calendar year.

  • What's interesting is that five of those hat-tricks have come away from home (Three PL, one FA Cup and one Champions League). There have only been five hat-tricks scored away from home by Spurs players other than Kane in the past 20 years.

  • Yesterday was his 7th PL hat trick. Only four players in PL history have scored more - Shearer (11), Fowler (9), Henry (8) and Owen (8). He is 24 years old.

  • He now also has 10 hat-tricks in total for us. He is only one away from matching Jimmy Greaves' record of 11.

  • With yesterday's hat-trick, Kane has moved above Robbie Keane and is now only five goals behind Sheringham as our all time PL top scorer. Sheringham was considered a prolific, elite forward in his day and was a PL Golden Boot winner with us - Kane has played over 100 games fewer to get to this level.

  • He has now scored 56 goals from his last 58 games. That is absolutely insane. That's more goals than Gareth Bale scored in his entire time for us since the start of last season. Remember when our best strikers were Steffen Iversen and Les Ferdinand? They both spent 6+ years at the club and scored less than 50 in total. Hell even Pavlyuchenko and Adebayor scored less than 50 in total after four years and they were supposedly big name players at one point!
And finally...here is how the top scorers of Europes big leagues currently rank for 2017:
  • 54 | Lionel Messi (Barcelona)
  • 53 | Harry Kane (Tottenham)
  • 53 | Robert Lewandowski (Bayern)
  • 53 | Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)
  • 53 | Edinson Cavani (PSG)

Kane however, is the only one with a fixture left to play.....

HOWEVER. That failed pass to Eriksen was shocking

Surely betting on Kane to score at anytime against Southampton is just like printing money?

Have any footballers given you a tacky tip by actually touching it?
