The 3rd goal yesterday was just.. everything.

The tackle, the run, doing the defender like a kipper, the finish. Just perfect.

I really hope he gets his goal early on Tuesday. As much as I love him, the three points are more important than this record, and I don't want to be going in to the second half level with Southampton, and all the lads are trying to do is feed Harry so he can score. Win the game, and then focus on the record breaking.

Sorry for being a bit of a killjoy!

He would’ve had 2 more games to try beat the record if Sky hadn’t fucked the fuck up!!

Not sure if I misread it, as I'd had a couple of cups of tea by the time MOTD was on, but did they say Kane has equalled the record in 7 less games?

I think he'll be doing everything he can to make sure the team come out of the blocks firing.

That's being slightly overlooked, but Kane's record is all the more incredible bearing in mind his relatively long absence with injury.

And in Europe too.

Even Messi, the only player to have scored more than Kane this year, has only scored one more but played 15 more games. Kane: 53 in 49 games, Messi 54 in 64 games.

In fact, I believe Kane is the only one of Europe's top 5, (Messi, Lewandowski, Cavani, Ronaldo and Kane) to have averaged better than a goal per game for the whole of 2017.

And he's improving all the time.

Any one of you not rating Kane as one of the very best players in the world? You need to have a word with yourself. Best player I've seen at our club. Hoddle, Bale, Modric be damned, you need to pause and think about what you're witnessing. In years to come you'll be asked about him, like we ask about Greaves. Think about the answer you'll give to your grandkids. If the best you can do is "I posted a lot in match threads that he should pass more".. well, then you deserve all the ridicule coming your way. Pause.. and think about what you are witnessing.
This one really grinds my gears..."he needs to do this more, he needs to do that less"
No, no he fucking doesn't.
He needs to carry on doing EXACTLY what hes been doing for the last 2/3 years.

Which "fab 4" is better? Kane eriksen dele son or firmino coutinho mane salah??

Our four when we're pressing. Like yesterday for instance.

When we're not, like we've seen for the majority of league games this season, then Liverpool's.

But overall, it's a pretty close call.

We've just got a far better defense than Liverpool, that's been the major difference when both teams have fully fit squads pretty much.

As I said elsewhere, in the match thread yesterday I think, it is a shame the West Ham game was moved from NYE to 2018
as that could have helped increase the tally even more.

When you read those stats it hits you just how good he is but we almost take it for granted.
I know he is good but those statistics put him in the world class category fair and square, matched the highest scorers and more goals this year than anybody but Messi and only by one goal which could change this week, that has surprised even me.
What makes his figures better than theirs is that he plays in the Premier league and not a one horse town league, amazing.
I also have to say that I've noticed his all round game has been better this season, he really is still improving.

His stats would be even more insane if he realisesd the season starts in August and not September.

Amazing player and it's a privalige to watch him play in a Spurs shirt.

HARRY KANE STATS *KLAXON*

  • He has now equalled Alan Shearer's record of 36 goals in a calendar year, and still has one game left at home to Southampton to move clear of him.

  • Even if he doesn't, Kane's record is superior as Shearer scored 36 in 42 games whereas Kane has got there in only 35 games.

  • From March 1995 to January 2003, there were a combined total of seven hat-tricks from all Spurs players in just under eight years. Kane alone has scored seven in a single calendar year.

  • What's interesting is that five of those hat-tricks have come away from home (Three PL, one FA Cup and one Champions League). There have only been five hat-tricks scored away from home by Spurs players other than Kane in the past 20 years.

  • Yesterday was his 7th PL hat trick. Only four players in PL history have scored more - Shearer (11), Fowler (9), Henry (8) and Owen (8). He is 24 years old.

  • He now also has 10 hat-tricks in total for us. He is only one away from matching Jimmy Greaves' record of 11.

  • With yesterday's hat-trick, Kane has moved above Robbie Keane and is now only five goals behind Sheringham as our all time PL top scorer. Sheringham was considered a prolific, elite forward in his day and was a PL Golden Boot winner with us - Kane has played over 100 games fewer to get to this level.

  • He has now scored 56 goals from his last 58 games. That is absolutely insane. That's more goals than Gareth Bale scored in his entire time for us since the start of last season. Remember when our best strikers were Steffen Iversen and Les Ferdinand? They both spent 6+ years at the club and scored less than 50 in total. Hell even Pavlyuchenko and Adebayor scored less than 50 in total after four years and they were supposedly big name players at one point!
And finally...here is how the top scorers of Europes big leagues currently rank for 2017:
  • 54 | Lionel Messi (Barcelona)
  • 53 | Harry Kane (Tottenham)
  • 53 | Robert Lewandowski (Bayern)
  • 53 | Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)
  • 53 | Edinson Cavani (PSG)

Kane however, is the only one with a fixture left to play.....

HOWEVER. That failed pass to Eriksen was shocking

Only big names in the literal sense.

But can he do it on a cold Tuesday night at Stoke (a cliché which should now be modified to say: but can he do it on a cold Tuesday night at Burnley, as Stoke are now shit).

Just one of his ten passes put Sissoko though on goal.

Had it been the other way round that would have been enough to win the game.

I'm not a fan of personal records and awards in football but if it driving him to greater heights then so be it.

Not sure if that was aimed at me - as did rate my criticism of Kane for his occasional lack of passing with a
doh.png
- but you do not seem to understand how the chemsitry at top clubs operates. Or notice players' reaction. When Kane failed to pass to Eriksen (against Burnely) you could clearly see the frustration from other players. There is an unwritten rule that you pass to better placed players, particularly when the game is still close. Even if you are Kane or Ronaldo or Messi. You seem to believe top notch players are indifferent when being "over looked", even if it's Kane who "over looks" them. Not so.
You think players like Eriksen, Dele also want to be trusted when in much better position. If one player - even the star of the team - act too much as a ball hogger it may spread to the rest of the team and diminished the team spirit. Although, I have a feeling that Kane is a fairly humble person and have a very good standing and is very respected amongst all the players
Criticising Kane's occasionally lack of passing does not mean one is not appreciating him as a player - as you try to make it out to. Rather the opposite. I would love to see Kane improved even more as a player and that is one aspect that could be imporved. Even if he's world class it does not mean he is beyond criticism; he is not a holy cow.
Lloris is also world class but when he commits mistakes he get his fair share of criticism. Why not Kane as well? Is he totally beyond any form of cristicism then?
PS! Hoddle, Modric, Bale were/are world class in their respective position so it's hard to compare them to Kane and rate who is the best. But on present form I dare say Kane is the best "pure" CF in the world.
